Friday Five – Springtime Essentials

Hello Everyone!
Happy Friday! Today I wanted to share five of my favorite springtime essentials. Spring is coming (so they say…even though it still definitely feels like it’s winter), and items like these are what get me excited about this transition. They are sure to put a spring in your step.
1. Transition Tops
Tops like this one from H&M, are the perfect way to stay on trend without breaking the bank. The sweater material says, “I’m so cozy”, while the ruffled cold shoulder feature says, “Bring on the sunshine and let’s play.” I love to pair this top with my favorite blue jeans and a chunky heel like these (also worn here), these, or something a bit more fun like these.
H&M is killing it with their transition tops this year. I wore this one recently to an event with what I call my “fancy pants” (unavailable, but similar here and here) and it was a hit! Some other favorites include this sparkly onethis classic black and white one, and this denim one. Grab them before they’re gone! They always sell out so fast.
2. Dainty Accessories
Springtime means ditching the big chunky scarves and reaching for lighter accenting details. I have recently purchased two necklaces that I am so in love with. This golden leaf one and my beloved half moon/horn one (also here) are my go-tos. You can’t go wrong with them seeing as though they go with almost anything. Essential to my spring wardrobe for. sure.
I bought this bandana last summer and wore it tied to my Madewell crossbody constantly. However, now I have found myself wanting to wear it as a scarf. It feels so Parisian and chic and effortless, I can’t wait to wear it more often. I also really want this blush one. Yes, please!
3. Fresh Flowers
What is springtime without fresh flowers around the house?! I am a sucker for flowers and have them throughout my house year round, but they seem even more essential, and a beautiful part of life in the spring. I know I’m spoiled, but my boyfriend brings me home a new batch of fresh flowers every Friday! How lucky am I? (Let me know if you guys want a weekly flower post or a flower arranging post!) Seeing bright blooms just makes me happy.
4. Bright Lips
Pink lips, whether they be matte or high shine, are my favorite in the spring. My lip look featured in these pictures is Melted Metal Macaroon, a slightly metallic liquid lipstick. It’s quite a bright pink, but a perfect pop of color with the right outfit. Another favorite of mine is in the shade Lust for Blush, (how fitting) and can be found at the drugstore. I am also obsessed with Buxom glosses for their high shine and minty freshness. My all-time favorite is Sophia, but I have recently fallen in love with the shade Lauren. I got it because it had my name, but it’s also gorgeous! It has a a peachy pink tint with blue reflects in it, which are sure to make your lips shine and your teeth look white.
5. The Leather Jacket
This leather jacket is easily one of the best articles of clothing I own. It’s extremely soft, worn in, and light weight while also being warm. I love pairing this with a more feminine look to give it a little edge. I like to save the tops for staying on trend, and let the layers keep the classic, timeless look. (Let me know if you guys want to see outfits styled with this leather jacket.)
I hope you guys enjoyed this week’s Friday Five and are as pumped about spring as I am.

Skincare! How to Prep Your Skin for Glam

Hello Everyone!
We have finally made it to part 3 of my NYC Gala series. (To catch up or refresh, click here for part 1 and here for part 2.) Today I am going to share with you what I did to prep my skin in the 24 hours leading up to the event.

The night before a big event, my go-to mask is the GlamGlow GRAVITYMUD Firming Treatment. This mask is not only efficient in firming and plumping the skin, but is very satisfying to apply, wear, and peel off. Added bonus: you get to look like the Tin Man for 20-30 minutes!
Before drinking a big glass of water and going to sleep early, I apply Luna and Good Genes generously to my face and neck (also the backs of my hands…keeping my hands looking youthful). This ensures a plump and refreshed face when I wake up in the morning. The best kind of beauty sleep.

Before I start on my face, I like to first eat my breakfast. Breakfast for me includes a bagel with cream cheese, emergen-C (this being my favorite), and coffee. #duh
Once I’m finished, now the fun begins. I wash my face with Clinique Pep Start 2-in-1 Exfoliating Cleanser then it’s time for yet another mask! I chose this avocado sheet mask and it was perfect. Very nourishing and brightening…big thumbs up. After taking the sheet off, I wanted to let the ingredients set in for a while, so I went about my day doing this and that for a couple of hours letting the mask continue to do it’s magic. 30 minutes before I needed to start doing my makeup for the evening, I lightly rinsed any excess from the mask off of my face and applied a generous amount of this moisturizer to my face and neck as well as a couple pumps of this luxurious Dior Dream Skin. I finish off by tapping a bit of this eye cream around my eyes.
Taking these steps ensures that my face will be glowing and fresh for the entire evening. I enjoy going the distance with my skincare so I am able to rest assure that my skin looks the way I want it to and can feel confident when talking to lots of people.
Hope you’ve enjoyed getting ready for this event with me!

Fall Tag

What is your favorite thing about fall?
I absolutely love sweaters and candles. Hands down my very favorite things about fall.
(Oh, and October is my birthday month!)
I just purchased my fall candles from Bath and Body works. I got Leaves, Sweater Weather, Marshmallow Fireside, and Pumpkin Pecan Waffles. They all smell so good and I highly recommend them. What is your favorite fall lip product?
I have two favorite lipsticks that I love, but always hold out on wearing them until Fall: Maybelline Color Sensational Creamy Matte Lip Color in Divine Wine and Revlon Super Lustrous Creme Lipstick in Berry Haute.  The great thing about both of these products is that they are under $5 each!

What is your favorite fall hairstyle?
I love to let my natural curls take over, especially this time of year! On extra cold days, I like to wear my hair in a side braid with a cozy hat, like this one. You also know I love the look of a Parisian wool beret!
What is your favorite fall color?
Can I choose gold?! Yes. Gold + burgundy + blush + camel = my fall heaven.
What is your favorite fall scent?
I love the warm smells of cloves, tobacco, and cinnamon!
I also have this over the stove recipe a friend of mine shared that transforms my entire house into a fall time dream!
What is your favorite fall fashion trend?
Fall dresses! I’m obsessed with wrap dresses as well as sweater dresses! (Find 50 under $50 here!)
What is your favorite fall Starbucks drink?
PSL!!! Duh! But I will say, I wish Starbucks had a Maple latte. If they did, my loyalty would change.

*They do have a maple pecan latte this year…a little too sweet if you ask me.*

RVA friends: This harvest latte is bomb!

What is your favorite fall nail polish?
I love a super dark burgundy nail in the fall, and Bordeaux by Essie is so perfect.

What is your favorite fall accessory?

I love over the knee boots and a skirt, or cozy slippers while I’m curled up by the fire.

What are you being for Halloween?

This is the big question. I need your help! What should I be for Halloween?
