Sometimes, that feeling that dictates whether you’re going to have a good day vs a bad day occurs right when we wake up in the morning. Don’t you ever just wake up (probably late) & your day just seems to start off on a bad foot? I’ve been assessing my moods, my sleeping pattern, & my productivity lately & thought I would share what I’ve found works for me in order to ensure a good start to my day.

I have always been pretty good about sleeping, but over the last year or so, I’ve been very diligent about making my sleep pattern a priority. The body needs sleep. That’s when it can heal, repair, & restart for the next day. Now I know that maybe not everyone requires the same amount of sleep, but I know that I feel best when I get a full 8 hours of sleep consistently & consistency is key here. This is not a one time thing & you’re going to feel awake & alive afterward. No, making this a habit has been so good for my health as well as my moods.
One more thing I’ve added to my sleeping pattern in drinking an entire glass of water right before I go to sleep, & having my Emergen-C every morning with my breakfast. I swear this combination works wonders for the mind, body, & soul.

Before going to sleep, do one thing to pamper yourself. This could be a variety of things like taking a bubble bath, doing a face mask, applying a nourishing hand cream, or even just lighting a candle & doing some light stretches or reflection. Little things like these can really calm your mind down so it’s ready to sleep & sleep well.
One of my favorite ways to pamper myself on special nights is to apply a VIIcode Oxygen Eye Mask to my under eyes before I go to sleep. One of the coolest things about this particular eye mask is that it is one that is meant to be worn overnight. This mask is equipped with a gel-like material that sticks right onto the face & can be worn for up to 8 hours. (Which is the exact amount of hours I try to sleep, so it’s perfect.) It’s amazing the noticeable difference to my under eye area once I wake up & remove this product. I just love how it visibly brightens & moisturizes my under eyes, leaving my skin fresh & awake to start my day.
Although these eye masks work wonders overnight, another way I have loved using them is by sticking them in the refrigerator & then using them for just a few hours during the day. It’s so easy & refreshing to wear while watching a movie, writing blog posts, or even while cleaning my house.

I am totally a planner, but in some areas of my life, I have to make that extra effort to ensure good planning. Lately, I’ve added a few planning tasks to my nightly routine to ensure a good start to the next day.
One thing that is actually so helpful when getting ready in the morning is having your outfit planned out. Somedays I have my whole look with accessories, all planned out before I go to sleep, but I definitely don’t do that everyday. Most nights, what I find helpful is to at least check out the weather for the next day & get an idea of what I want to wear based on the temperature & the colors I’m feeling at the moment. I’ve found that at least having an idea of what I want to wear the next day, makes getting ready a much smoother experience.
The last planning tip I’ve recently implemented is spending about 20 minutes before going to bed each night picking up small things around the house, making sure the dishes are done & the kitchen is clean, & preparing my coffee for the next day. Ben & I have found that waking up to a clean kitchen & the smell of hot coffee gives each morning a fresh start to a great day.
Do you do any of these things too? What are your favorite nighttime pampering rituals?
