DIY Christmas Garland

DIY Christmas Garland

Hello Everyone!

You should know by now, that I love a good garland, & it doesn’t get any better than having a live green one this time of year! This is my second year in a row to make one of these beauties, & with a little time & creativity, you can too! This DIY Christmas garland is sure to bring your house feel more like home.

Items Needed To Make Your DIY Christmas Garland:

A large pile of branches (We always get ours when we get our Christmas tree, from the clippings…for free!)

Green paddle wire

Pruning shears

Once you have all of your supplies, I recommend going through each branch & trimming them to make long, narrow pieces. I also like to choose the corner pieces, which I like to hang down lower than the rest of the garland. After you’ve trimmed each piece, now all you have to do is put them together by placing branches together & securing them in place with the wire. This is the part that takes the most time, just because it’s all trial & error. Play with different branches to see what looks best, & add wire to secure heavier pieces. Keep messing with it until it’s just right.

To hang, I made & attached loops from the wire on five spots along the garland for it to be hung on nails (or command hooks) on the wall. It’s fairly easy to hang & lasts well.

Adding the finishing touches is the best part! This year, we simply placed a cheerful “Merry Christmas” garland in its midst, but last year we hung small star ornaments from the branches. You could also string lights in it or add bows to it, literally whatever fits your home best.

Do you love garlands as much as I do? Will you be putting one up in your home this year?

How To Perfectly Wrap Your Gifts This Year

How To Perfectly Wrap Your Gifts This Year

Hello Everyone!

Wrapping presents is one of my very favorite things to do year-round, so when Christmas time comes around, I get giddy with excitement. Today I want to share with you how to perfectly wrap your gifts this year. I love letting my creativity run wild as I plan out color schemes & mood boards for my Christmas wrapping vibes. This year, I went with simple, minimal paper with feminine touches of gold, bows, & sparkles. Adding every small detail gives each gift a personal touch as well as decorates your home while living under your tree until Christmas.

Now grab a cup of hot cocoa (recipes here) & let’s get wrapping!

The past three years, I have used the gorgeous Rifle Paper Co. wrapping paper for my holiday wrapping, & I absolutely loved it. I love Anna’s designs, but I decided to make a change this year because I remembered how lovely Target’s Sugar Paper products were last year. Recently, I went to Target, making a beeline for the Sugar Paper display, & quickly filled my cart with all of the beautiful holiday wrapping things. I decided to stick with red, pink, white, gold, & navy, letting the tree be the only green. The metallic touches to these Sugar Paper products are what really speaks to me. They are minimal, elegant, classy, & still very festive.

Once each gift is perfectly wrapped in paper, now the fun really begins. Adding different colors, textures, & sizes of ribbon helps set each present apart. I love this white ribbon with a gold metallic edge as well as this skinny pink velvet ribbon. For a bigger statement, I pull out the big guns with these large glitter bows that are sure to be show stopping.

For packages that need a little extra something, I will tie on a little gold bell or one of these tiny Christmas ornaments for extra embellishment.

My biggest wrapping tip for you this year is to try to make each gift unique & special. Getting creative, & putting that little extra thought into the presentation of each gift is something your loved ones will cherish & appreciate. Plus, just think of how gorgeous they will look under your tree this whole holiday season!

Finding The Perfect Tree

Finding The Perfect Tree

Quilted Jacket / Sweater / Scarf / Jeans / Boots / Bag

Hello Everyone!

Last Friday, Ben & I found our Christmas tree! This is a tradition we look forward to every year & this year is our 4th Christmas together. A live tree in the home is just magical. The scent alone feels like Christmas, much less the fact that we add lights & ornaments to it to make it sparkle & shine with cheer. But before we get to the decorations, it’s on to finding the perfect tree.

Finding The Perfect Tree

Finding The Perfect Tree

The things we look for in a perfect tree:

The right height – make sure you measure first!

A good fullness – not too skinny

An even & symmetrical shape

Soft pines – some are definitely softer than others…make sure you touch them.

Just the right amount of quirk. Maybe it has one extra long branch on the side, or the point at the top is crooked…those little things make it YOUR tree.

For Ben & I, we always go with a Frasier Fir. They are just the best in our opinion. (& we are in love with this Frasier Fir candle!)

Finding The Perfect Tree

Once we find the perfect tree, it’s time to take it home.

Now for the fun part…dressing it up!

But you’ll have to wait for that…Until then! xx

Holiday Home Fragrances

Holiday Home Fragrances

Hello Everyone!

Day 2 of Blogmas is here, & it’s filled with all the holiday fragrances I love this time year. I’ve been stocking up on Lush bath products & yummy candles in preparation for this joyful season. I know that a great fragrance has a way of totally calming me down in the midst of Christmas shopping & Nutcracker chaos, & Christmas candles are my absolute favorites! See which ones I’ve gathered this year & others I’m planning on adding to my collection.

I do the most damage at Lush this time of year, hands down. I love hot baths with great bath bombs, oils, or bubbles (or all of the above…) with a space heater going in the bathroom & a glass of red wine in hand. One product that I can’t go without is Christingle. This body conditioner leaves my skin feeling so smooth, but it’s really the scent that has me smitten.  The cooling mint is just perfection. I try so hard to ration this product so I can make it last year round…but I typically fail because it’s just so good!

Other seasonal Lush products I have purchased recently include the Golden Wonder bath bomb, the Christmas Sweater bath bomb, & the Tree D bath oil melt. I can’t wait to use them! (Probably all this next week…)

Seeing as though I will probably use all of the up quite soon, these are on my next list: the Christmas Eve bubble bar,  the Shoot For The Stars bath bomb, & the Thunder Snow bath bomb. I’ll keep you updated via my Instagram Stories.

Holiday Home Fragrances

Now for my Christmas candle collection!

I’m always drawn to the pine/Christmas tree scent in candles! I like to stock up on this fragrance from different companies. My favorites have to be Thymes Frasier Fir, Fresh Balsam, & Illume Balsam & Cedar. These candles burn constantly in my household so having backups is a must.

Bath & Body Works candles are some of my favorites as well! My go-tos are Sweater Weather, Leaves, Winter, & Marshmallow Fireside.

What are your favorite home fragrances this time of year? Do we share any of the same must haves?

Hope you’re having a great day & are enjoying Blogmas thus far! This is just the beginning!…
