New Series!

I’ve been so inspired by designer looks from fashion week. The fabrics they are using, the color combinations, the accessories & makeup, just everything has me in awe. If you guys have been following my Facebook page or my Instagram stories, you will have seen that I’ve been posting a lot about some really affordable designer dupes. I know that dupes can be a bit of a touchy subject at times, but my philosophy is that imitation is indeed the sincerest form of flattery. If I can get the same feel or look as what I’m seeing designers make for an affordable price, I’m going to go for it.

This series will highlight some of my favorite designers, the pieces I’m currently crushing on, & all the affordable dupes & designer inspired pieces I’ve found lately. I’m so pumped for this series. Let’s dive into the amazing Oscar de la Renta.

Oscar de la Renta

Oscar de la Renta was my very first designer crush back when I was in high school. I had an app that let me scroll through all of the runway show looks, & each time I was captivated by the colors, prints, florals, & silhouettes of OdlR. Since then I’ve continued to be constantly inspired by these designs. Twice I’ve worn real OdlR earrings to galas & felt like an actual princess (see here & here).

Below are a few Oscar de la Renta pieces I’m currently crushing on. I’ve found some amazing dupes & designer inspired pieces to share with you guys…

Affordable Pieces With Designer Feel

1. Red Lace Dress

This gorgeous red lace dress has a sweet floral design almost exactly like the Oscar de la Renta original. It’s the perfect length for spring & I love the flutter sleeves & the unexpected collar detail.

2. Pearl Cluster Earrings

No shocker here that I’m still crushing on all things pearl (see more here & here). I love the statement these pearl cluster drops make. Other OdlR inspired earrings include these bows, these gold florals, & this incredible star burst pair.

3. Wide Belt

My belt collection is definitely growing at the moment. I’m drawn to these OdlR inspired wide belts with large square buckles. Loving this white one featured in this post as well as this gold embellished one for under $10!

4. Classic, Feminine Khaki Dress

One of my favorite things about OdlR is that the collections are full of extravagant, lovely pieces that somehow seem so wearable. I think every woman needs a good ole classic, feminine khaki dress. A piece like this is perfect to keep in your wardrobe for those days you don’t know what to wear. This dress will always be a winner.

5. 3D Floral Bag

I’m ordering this 3D floral crossbody that’s under $20 as I write this post! Obsessed with the effect a bag like this makes on an outfit. Swooning over the OdlR floral bags, but this white one, this cute clutch, & this sweet vintage inspired one are all super affordable & give that same designer feel.

6. Flowing Yellow Maxi

Yellow is a big trend this season, & a super wearable, yet dramatic dress like this is giving me life right now. You might recognize this dress because I wore it in a recent post (see here). The color, draping skirt, & the slit are all very OdlR inspired.

7. Lovely Toile & Botanical Print Pieces

Feeling so nostalgic for all this toile print. Yes, this classic print was popular for curtains & pillows back in the day, but I also owned a few Laura Ashley dresses in toile print during my childhood. I’m so in love with the fact that it’s coming back! It’s difficult to find affordable toile pieces at the moment, but these botanical prints are a huge nod in that direction. I absolutely adore the dress I’m wearing here as well as this botanical print blouse I’ve recently added to my wardrobe.

Let’s get down to basics.

A basic (or even not so basic) white top is a woman’s wardrobe’s best friend. The perfect white top has the ability to look very clean & expensive (even if it’s not), & can take you from day to night instantly. It’s the item you reach for when you’re in a rush, but you want to look sharp, classic, & put together. Having a key pieces like this fresh & ready to go can free you of any stress you may have about getting ready or finding the “right outfit” for any specific occasion. The white top will never go out of style, so having a few options to choose from is a wise investment.

Finding Your Perfect White Top

It’s important to think of how you plan on getting the most wear out of your top. Do you wear skirts a lot? make sure it tucks into things nicely. Do you wear jeans on the daily? Think about your body & what length of top looks best on you & makes you feel good. A key item like this is one you want to be extremely versatile & able to play well with a variety of other pieces in your current wardrobe. Look for the details that suit your style & will compliment an outfit.

Take the top I’m wearing in this post for example. I’ve chosen a bright, white eyelet button front top with rolled sleeves & a sweet tie in the front. All of the little details of this piece make it stand out, & give it a unique look, while still being a classic white top & as versatile as ever.

My favorite white tops have a bit of structure. They are crisp & clean while still being soft & feminine. I find that the crisp, more structured look to a white top give the impression that it’s a good quality top, even if the shirt is under $25 (like the one I’m wearing is!).

A classic white top transitions from day to night with ease. During the daytime, style it with a pair of jeans or trousers or a light skirt. The day to night transition can be as easy as swapping your flats for a pair of strappy heels. It’s always fun to add a pair of statement earrings, or a swap for a more bold lipstick color.

Here are some of the best white tops I’ve found recently.

The majority of them are actually under $25! Which I find can ease your mind about buying a white top if you’re prone to spilling (like me).
