Spring, my favorite season, is in full swing & my heart is so happy. My garden is finally looking alive again & seems to be changing everyday! I’m keeping track of it on my Instagram so if you’re interested in seeing a bit of it, watch the highlight, “Our Garden”. Just as my garden is changing with this lovely weather, so is my wardrobe. Today I’m sharing 6 steps to spring style I use when choosing my outfit each day.
Choosing A Color Palette
When deciding what I want to wear each day, I start with the color. My favorite way to choose what color to wear is by thinking about what I’m most excited to see outside in nature that day. For instance, if the sun is out & my yellow roses are blooming, I’ll probably be wearing yellow. Or if the sky is clear & blue, like it was on this day, I’ll wear my favorite bright blue shades. Connecting the colors you wear to what’s inspiring to you outdoors is the best way to have the perfect spring color palette in your wardrobe.
Pile On The Florals
This time of year, you can find me wearing at least one piece of florals on the daily. Whether it’s a dress or skirt like the one I’m wearing, or a floral pair of shoes, earrings, or bag, florals are something I just can’t resist. Wearing at least one piece with floral details really sets the tone for a spring look. But why not pile them on? Try mixing floral prints, & if this seems a bit scary for you, I promise you this post I wrote last year will help you feel like a pro.
While I do love color, bright white accessories are my go-to during the spring. They help brighten any & every look. The best part is they match literally any color you could wear this spring. So when you’re looking to invest in a new pair of statement earrings, choosing a bright color is always fun, but choosing a bright white in a fun shape like these bows I’m wearing, will ensure you will get the best cost per wear.
All About The Sleeves
Sleeve details that make interesting silhouettes are my secret weapon when it comes to creating the perfect spring look. Think ruffles, balloon sleeves, & smocking. For this look, even though both my skirt & my sleeves are a bit oversized & exaggerated, the top fits snug around my body to still gives me a flattering shape.
The very best way to add a bit of texture to your spring outfit is by pairing it with your favorite woven, wicker, or rattan pieces. Whether it’s a bag, a great pair of woven shoes, or some raffia earrings, this small detail brings warmth & life to an outfit. I just did a whole post on this topic, see it here.
A Fresh Face
You’re never fully dressed without a fresh face & a smile. A great fresh spring face first begins with good skincare (see these 4 skincare items I can’t live without!). It’s so important to invest in your skin & really take care of it well. The more you take care of your skin, the less makeup you’ll feel like you need to wear. A few key items to my fresh face include my Jouer Luminous Moisture Tint, the Charlotte Tilbury Pillow Talk blush, & my favorite nude lip.
