I was so inspired by the gorgeous white dogwood blooms outside my house to create this whimsical feminine white look. My wardrobe was filled with white pieces last year while I was embracing my bride-to-be status. Whether you’re a bride-to-be or not, white in spring is always in.
This look totally embodies my motto of fearless, feminine, fashion. I love an outfit that has a theme, with this one being all things white & floral. This feminine lace dress in the sweetest floral pattern creates the most classic silhouette. A shape like this is a great thing to look out for when shopping for classic pieces you’ll wear year after year. The high neck, cute short sleeves, & dress length just below the knee, is a look that will never go out of style.
As far as accessories go, I think these white flower earrings might be my favorite earrings of all time. They go with everything & perfectly complete every look. My shoes for this look are these gorgeous white lace ballet flats I purchased on my girl’s trip to Charleston at H&M. These are super affordable & the perfect spring flat shoes to throw on with any outfit. The white daisy crossbody I’m wearing is definitely a crowd pleaser. It looks quite expensive, like it could be a designer bag, but I purchased it for less than $20! Lastly, I added this vintage looking parasol to add a bit of whimsy to this shoot.
Playing with different textures in an outfit is a great way to elevate your look. For spring, I love light cotton pieces, shirred details, buttons & bows, & lace or crochet pieces. But most of all I love incorporating woven, wicker, & rattan pieces into my looks for more of a classic, vintage feel. This natural texture brings warmth & dimension to an outfit. I tend to gravitate towards these lovely pieces on the daily once the weather starts to warm up. The easiest way to add some of this natural texture to to your look is with a sweet basket bag, but that’s not the only way to do this. Right now there are so many amazing shoes & accessories available to add some lovely texture to your daily looks.
What I’m Wearing
Let’s start at the top! These woven straw hoop earrings were a steal at only $7. They are so lightweight, & easy to pair with almost any look. Next is my new favorite top. This lovely botanical print top with ruffle sleeves is on sale right now for only $7! I’m so in love with this dreamy floral print & classic feminine shape. Then I chose to add this faux leather & woven belt (also on sale for only $7…I’m seeing a trend here…haha) around my waist to add a bit of structure & break up the look a bit.
The lace midi skirt is one that I’ve own for many years now. (see a similar one here) I love the contrast between the soft lace skirt & the structured basket bag. This particular basket bag is the newest in my collection & looks like a mini picnic basket. It’s small enough to be carried around with ease, but big enough to carry quite a lot with you. For a feminine touch, I tied my Gal Meets Glam Logo Scarf in a bow on one of the handles. Last but not least are my white woven shoes (which are under $30!). These beauties are so comfortable to wear, & I love the way a white shoe looks with a spring outfit.
OMG I can’t even believe it! My two worlds have collided in the most amazing way. I have a two page fashion focused spread in a magazine I grew up reading. As a teenager, reading through Pointe Magazine & dreaming of becoming a professional dancer, I never thought that one day I would be featured in that very same magazine! The article in the April/May issue that I am a part of is called Studio To Street. In this article, I talk about Felix & Flora, my personal style, & how that also translates into my ballet studio style. Thank you, Pointe Magazine, I feel truly honored to have been chosen for this article. (Pointe Magazines are sold in Barnes & Noble stores if you want to see the print version. I will link the online version as soon as it’s live.)
Now onto this month’s Designer Crush…
The Dreamy Zimmermann
Zimmermann is know for his flowing designs, feminine cut outs with dreamy floral ruffles, & the most figure flattering silhouettes. If Oscar de la Renta was my first designer crush, Zimmermann was definitely my second. Each Zimmermann piece is dreamy & iconic in it’s own way. He combines everything I love about feminine clothing & gives it just the right amount of edge.
Below are few Zimmermann images that I’ve been totally crushing on…(notice the sweater in the second picture!)

I’ve been so inspired by designer looks from fashion week. The fabrics they are using, the color combinations, the accessories & makeup, just everything has me in awe. If you guys have been following my Facebook page or my Instagram stories, you will have seen that I’ve been posting a lot about some really affordable designer dupes. I know that dupes can be a bit of a touchy subject at times, but my philosophy is that imitation is indeed the sincerest form of flattery. If I can get the same feel or look as what I’m seeing designers make for an affordable price, I’m going to go for it.
This series will highlight some of my favorite designers, the pieces I’m currently crushing on, & all the affordable dupes & designer inspired pieces I’ve found lately. I’m so pumped for this series. Let’s dive into the amazing Oscar de la Renta.
Oscar de la Renta
Oscar de la Renta was my very first designer crush back when I was in high school. I had an app that let me scroll through all of the runway show looks, & each time I was captivated by the colors, prints, florals, & silhouettes of OdlR. Since then I’ve continued to be constantly inspired by these designs. Twice I’ve worn real OdlR earrings to galas & felt like an actual princess (see here & here).
Below are a few Oscar de la Renta pieces I’m currently crushing on. I’ve found some amazing dupes & designer inspired pieces to share with you guys…
Affordable Pieces With Designer Feel
1. Red Lace Dress
This gorgeous red lace dress has a sweet floral design almost exactly like the Oscar de la Renta original. It’s the perfect length for spring & I love the flutter sleeves & the unexpected collar detail.
One of my favorite things about OdlR is that the collections are full of extravagant, lovely pieces that somehow seem so wearable. I think every woman needs a good ole classic, feminine khaki dress. A piece like this is perfect to keep in your wardrobe for those days you don’t know what to wear. This dress will always be a winner.
Yellow is a big trend this season, & a super wearable, yet dramatic dress like this is giving me life right now. You might recognize this dress because I wore it in a recent post (see here). The color, draping skirt, & the slit are all very OdlR inspired.
7. Lovely Toile & Botanical Print Pieces
Feeling so nostalgic for all this toile print. Yes, this classic print was popular for curtains & pillows back in the day, but I also owned a few Laura Ashley dresses in toile print during my childhood. I’m so in love with the fact that it’s coming back! It’s difficult to find affordable toile pieces at the moment, but these botanical prints are a huge nod in that direction. I absolutely adore the dress I’m wearing here as well as this botanical print blouse I’ve recently added to my wardrobe.
Here in Richmond, it’s still quite cold, but a a few spring-y days have been sprinkled in making my spring wardrobe seem so appealing. I’m so ready for crisp white tops, flowing midi skirts, basket bags, & espadrilles. On the colder days, an easy way to welcome spring into your life is with a fresh fragrance. My favorite spring notes would have to be roses, lavender, jasmine, & amber. There’s something so special about choosing a fragrance for the day. It has the power to set my mood, mindset, & confidence level for the rest of the day. Also, nothing gets me more in the cheerful spring mood than a fresh floral scent.
The Affordable Fragrance Collection
Now I know fragrances aren’t cheap & the thought of being able to afford an entire collection may seem unattainable, but rollerballs have totally changed the game. These beautiful on the go fragrances are the perfect way to be able to afford the fragrances you love & then to build a collection. Just think, the average price of a full size perfume is around $100. That means you could get about 4 rollerballs for the price of one full bottle! That’s 4 new scents to add to your collection! I love having a variety to choose from, & being able to choose your daily scent based off the season you’re in or the mood you’re going for is just the best. Upping your rollerball game this year is a great way to collect fragrances at an affordable price.
You know that perfect outfit you own that you can wear to grab brunch with your girlfriends? Now imagine that look gently sprinkled with touches of sparkle. Do you smile at the thought of that like I do? I just love a little shimmer! Personally, at the moment I’m not into wearing necklaces, but items on my radar include earrings, bracelets, rings, hair accessories, & even hand bags. I am on the hunt to find the best affordable sparkly bits. These little pretties know how to catch people’s eyes & elevate any look.
I’ve had my second piercing done for years now, but I don’t always take advantage of it. I’m really into the look of huggie earrings (dainty gold earrings that “hug” your ear) layered up on the ear. Especially if they are asymmetrical! The star + moon set I’m wearing in these photos is one of my favorite sets at the moment. On the other side, the star & moon are reversed! I also have this larger pair of affordable star + moon earrings that are great for making a statement. Earrings that are asymmetrical like this are also seen from some of my favorite designers such as Dior, Gucci, & Oscar de la Renta.
Another great way to add a touch of sparkle to your look is with bracelets & rings. I’m typically drawn to items that are mostly gold with a few sparkles thrown in the mix. Like this dainty nautical charm bracelet I’m wearing here. Old school charm bracelets are making a come back you guys! Time to whip out your old ones or find new affordable ones such as this. There is something so satisfying to having a little jingle on your wrist.
It’s no secret that I love love love pearls right now. And how could I not? They are everywhere right now & so perfectly feminine. Designers like Jennifer Behr are influencing the accessories scene in a major way. Her use of pearls in bows, headbands, & clips for your hair is just stunning. Ever since seeing her work, I’ve been searching for similar pieces that give that same feel, but at a more affordable price point. This pearl headband (also seen here) is one of those pieces, & I can’t stop wearing it! Also pearl hair clips like these & these are so gorgeous & are currently on my shopping list. As far as earrings go, some trending pearl pieces include these pearl heart earrings (under $5) (worn here), & these super fun shell + pearl statement earrings.
