While perusing through my favorite local antique store, I found this gorgeous scarf that quickly made a place in my wardrobe. I was immediately drawn to its lovely fall tones: the emerald green, the deep red, & the bright gold. Creating an outfit featuring this scarf was like stepping right into fall. I could imagine wearing this while the leaves are changing colors & starting to fall, the crisp air is surrounding me, while sipping on a pumpkin spice cappuccino.
This will only be my second year of truly embracing fall fashion. I love getting creative with the colors textures & layers that just scream fall. I tend to stick to the color palette of burgundy, camel, emerald, & navy, but also this year, I am planning on bringing some purple to the mix as well, more on that later. These colors & tones are ones I typically don’t wear except during this time of year, which is why fall fashion excites me so much! What a fun opportunity to play with new colors & new pairings each year!
This look, thanks to this scarf, displays several of my favorite fall tones. I would have never put all of these colors & accessories together if it weren’t for being so inspired by this scarf, but I love the way it turned out. Just can’t wait to style this scarf with more outfits this fall & continue mixing fall tones that I would have never paired together before. Each day brings a new spark of creativity when creating my OOTD.
What are your favorite colors to wear in the fall?
I have always loved coats, & I have always wanted a nice coat collection. You know what started it for me? The Devil Wears Prada. This clip of Andy walking in Manhattan & suddenly appearing in a completely different outfit with another completely stunning coat on, really stuck with me! Meanwhile, when I was living in NYC, I had a big black puffy coat that I wore on the daily, which made me look like I was wearing the same outfit everyday. I knew that someday, I wanted to own a collection with a variety of colors, textures, & silhouettes. Since then, I’ve been slowly adding to my wardrobe, & I am so in love with the pieces I’ve found over the years. I’m still really wanting to add a white, a navy, & a leopard print one to my collection…but that will come in time.
Coats can be expensive. Let me guide you through different price points for every budget to help expand your coat collection this season!
Classic Black Coat
You guys, I found this Guess coat at Goodwill for $20! I have found so many amazing things at my local Goodwill, it just takes some digging. Also, I’ve found that after the holidays, around the start of the new year, is the best time to look for coats. I love having this big black wool coat in my collection. It has a wrap around front & gold buttons that are to die for. This piece is a classic, timeless staple, & you probably already have one like it in your closet. But incase you don’t, here are a few of my favorites out there now!
Fuzzy Coat
This kind of coat might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s one of my very favorites! It’s a short coat, & looks gorgeous with skirts or dresses. Not only is it beautiful dressed up, but it works wonders with a casual outfit! Throw on your favorites jeans & almost any top, then throw a fuzzy coat like this over top, & your outfit is complete! I recommend this kind of coat to be added to your wardrobe if you are interested in living your coziest life possible. 🙂 Check out all the dreamy options below! Almost all of them are under $50!
Pink Coat
I purchased this lovely pink coat last season, & it is just so me. The shade of pink is so wearable & it has just the right amount of structure, making it both formal & casual. I was totally enamored by Julia’s pink coat, that when I saw this one, it was love at first sight. It was instantly added to my coat collection.
Whether you use it as a pop of color, or a neutral to go with everything, a pink coat does wonders for your wardrobe. And pink is totally a festive Christmas color right?!…
Cape Coat
This coat is the newest in my collection. I love the fall tones & the subtle plaid thrown into it. What I love most about it though, is the silhouette it creates. It’s sleek & longline & actually has a little padding in the shoulders to add structure. This beauty is quite warm & perfect for wrapping up in like a blanket. (Fun fact: this coat looks JUST like Uncle Drosselmeyer’s cape in our Nutcracker! haha)
Trench Coat
The best part about owning a trench coat, is that it can literally be worn all year long! I wore it all over NYC last May (see here), & I also wore it to Thanksgiving last week. It’s so versatile & totally worth the investment this year. I found mine for under $100, so it doesn’t even have to break the bank. This piece is timeless & completes any look with ease. Check out my favorites on the market right now:
Last Friday, Ben & I found our Christmas tree! This is a tradition we look forward to every year & this year is our 4th Christmas together. A live tree in the home is just magical. The scent alone feels like Christmas, much less the fact that we add lights & ornaments to it to make it sparkle & shine with cheer. But before we get to the decorations, it’s on to finding the perfect tree.
The things we look for in a perfect tree:
The right height – make sure you measure first!
A good fullness – not too skinny
An even & symmetrical shape
Soft pines – some are definitely softer than others…make sure you touch them.
Just the right amount of quirk. Maybe it has one extra long branch on the side, or the point at the top is crooked…those little things make it YOUR tree.
For Ben & I, we always go with a Frasier Fir. They are just the best in our opinion. (& we are in love with this Frasier Fir candle!)
Once we find the perfect tree, it’s time to take it home.
I’m going to keep this intro short so we can get to the good stuff! Today we are talking about the best accessories to have in your wardrobe this season. From shoes to scarves to berets, this post covers it all! Let’s dive right in!
Boots, Loafers, & Ballerinas
I feel like this could be a whole post on it’s own! Fun fall shoes are a great way to accessorize an outfit.
I’ve always loved a good pair of ballerinas, & this year, I found the absolute best pair for under $13! They are so easy, & comfortable to wear, making them a lovely choice for an everyday outfit. It doesn’t hurt that I always feel Parisian chic while wearing them.
Loafers just scream fall to me. I love how on trend they are this year & all the different colors & styles available right now. In my collection, I have a classic brown pair, a black studded pair, a pink pair, a nude pair, a metallic silver pair, & a leather khaki colored pair. I’ve been eyeing these cream ones as well as these gorgeous neutral beige ones to round out my collection. They go with everything, & the slightly masculine feel of them just works this time of year.
Boots are always a must, & this season, I’ve finally added a pair of over the knee boots to my wardrobe. Julia, of Gal Meets Glam, has totally inspired me by showing that they can be very feminine & tasteful. Not to mention they really help you stay warm! Other boots in my collection include brown heeled boots, a pair of blue velvet ankle boots, & my duck boots. I have 3 others on my current wishlist: 1 / 2 / 3
Scarves
This goes unsaid, because everyone knows that scarves are a great way to accessorize a fall outfit. Whether it’s a small silk scarf, or a big blanket scarf, sometimes it’s not just that you are wearing it, it’s how you are wearing it. I have recently been so inspired by this post explaining 8 Ways To Wear A Scarf. It’s important to have a variety of styles in your collection to mix things up. Try adding different patterns, colors, & textures to your current collection. Also, make sure to take into account what coats you own to be sure your scarves will pair well with them. For example, I have a new check coat this season, so instead of getting all plaid scarves, I made sure to get a couple solid scarves with beautiful bold colors like this one & this one.
I’ve also been totally obsessing over the small Parisian scarves delicately tied around the neck. (last seen here) They have been all over my Instagram, seeing as though I can’t stop wearing them! In my current collection, I own a small one in blue, as well as a neutral cream colored one. See below for all the others currently on my wishlist. *swoon*
Vests
Vests are definitely a new love for me. I feel like I’ve just gotten the hang of styling them in a way I’m pleased with. They were always tricky for me, & never looked like I wanted them to while wearing one. For me, I think having the right pieces to go with them has really made the difference. The vest featured above has a small chevron pattern in the quilting, so pairing it with this solid, fall toned dress (which is on sale now btw for only $35!!) was a perfect match. I also have a burgundy vest (seen here) that was just meant to be paired with a navy cable knit sweater. Of course, they can go with other pieces in my wardrobe too, but those are a few of my favorites. (If you’d like to see other ways I style vests this time of year, let me know in the comments below.)
Purses
I have been really into crossbody purses as of late, & I have certain things I look for when choosing one to add to my collection. First, I look for color. This season, I’m all about my burgundy, navy, camel, & dark green. Then I look for structure & shape. I love it when I can fit my small camera inside my purse & plenty of lipsticks (what else would I need?…). Typically, I go for a gold chain strap with some sort of fold over top.
Fur
I have really gotten into faux furs over the past few years. They just add that instant glam & sophistication to an outfit that I absolutely live for. You can find them in so many colors making them work well with any outfit & any color coat in your collection. My navy fur scarf is definitely my most worn, but I just added this red number to my wardrobe which I can’t wait to wear with my check coat! The best thing about them is that they actually provide warmth as well! Check out all of the others I’m lusting over below!
Berets
Ah, a beret…my most Parisian accessory. There are so many gorgeous berets available right now, & it’s hard to stop adding them to my collection. I know own a camel colored one & a burgundy one, & they just do wonders for an outfit. They even work when you’re having a bad hair day! Just throw one on, & you instantly look put together & complete. These are a definite must in my fall wardrobe.

What are your favorite accessories this time of year? Planning on adding any of these to your wardrobe soon? xx
I’ve been taking inventory on my wardrobe recently, & in doing so, I’ve discovered a few things about myself. First off, I love statement pieces. Patterns, details, & varying silhouettes clearly speak to me. Secondly, I’m very proud of the new colors I’ve added to my wardrobe over the past 6 months like green, yellow, & red. Lastly, I own so many cream sweaters. Honestly, I’m not even saying that’s a bad thing. A cream sweater is a great fall/winter staple in my wardrobe.
I want to share with you a few of my favorite cream sweaters in my collection & ways I love to style them.
To go to the pumpkin patch, I chose an old favorite from last season (similar here). I simply combined it with a good old pair of trusty Madewell jeans & a classic fall boot. To spice it up a little bit, I added a simple scarf tied around my neck (one of my favorite things to do these days) & statement crossbody I just got for my birthday.
This simple outfit (the cream sweater & blue jeans) can be easily transformed into a completely new look. Maybe I want to add a vest, or I could switch out the ankle boots for a pair of my favorite over the knee boots. Or I could dress it up a little bit with my blue velvet booties, my new camel coat (last seen here), & a faux fur scarf. The possibilities are endless, even without changing the very core of this outfit.
Another way I love to wear a cream sweater is to pair with LITERALLY any skirt. Honestly, find me a skirt a cream sweater doesn’t go with…there isn’t one. Below are some outfits I adore:
These are just a few ways to pair a cream sweater with a skirt & be ready for any occasion. Needless to say, this staple is crucial to my wardrobe, & yours too! I recommend starting a collection of nice, “statement” cream sweaters to help put together your fall/winter wardrobe. I recently purchased this one, which I can’t wait to wear during the holiday season. The detailed sleeves on this one help dress up an outfit, giving it a little more edge. It’s important to have both a patterned/cable sweater as well as a clean, simplistic option as well. Give yourself options to feel good about when choosing your outfit each day.
I think the thing I love most about cream sweaters is that no matter your “brand” or style or color palette, a cream sweater seamlessly fits into any clothing collection.

Sometimes, a beautiful watch is just the accessory you need to complete your fall look. They are the perfect juxtaposition of function & fashion, helping us look professional & put together while adding that extra, elemental detail that looks amazing in photos. This time of year, when all I want to wear are knit sweaters, camel coats, & roll necks, I find that a chunkier watch fits right in & really helps a look come together.
In the spirit of Christmas that is quickly approaching, I’m happy to announce that I have partnered with Jord Watches as a part of their Holiday Campaign. I’ve always loved the look of a wood watch, & the craftsmanship & care put into these beautiful products is unmatched. (*Read through the end for an exclusive holiday discount!*) My watch is a gorgeous zebrawood with a bold navy face. Navy is one of my very favorite colors to wear year-round, so when I saw this one, I knew I needed it in my collection. The coolest part about Jord Watches is that they are actually made of real, hand-finished wood! I’m in awe of the quality of this product, & even though is it wood, it’s splash-proof! (phew! Although…better not submerge it in water.)
The watch itself is great, but another selling factor is the packaging! Every watch comes in it’s own wooden box that acts as a humidity control home for your wooden watch. The bottom has a drawer with vents & is equipped with humidity packs to ensure optimal humidity when storing your watch. The top secures by a very satisfying magnetic pull, & looks perfect displayed on a bedside table or vanity.
A nice, hand-crafted wood watch makes the perfect holiday gift for someone special in your life. I know my boyfriend already has his sights set on the Hyde Series watch in walnut & black, which will probably be making it into his stocking this year (hopefully he isn’t reading this!). For women, I would suggest the Frankie Series (like my watch), or the brand new slimmer band Cassia Series. The walnut & vintage rose has my name written all over it!
Since this partnership is for their Holiday Campaign, they very kindly gave me a coupon code for 25% off your entire purchase! Just click here, & you will be emailed with your very own discount code. This is their biggest deal of the year…so don’t miss out!
