For my final Valentine’s Day look, I wanted to share a more fancy & even a little bit sexy look with you. I wanted to shake up the typical fancy date night look & give it more of a vintage glamour feel. This look is for the bold romantic. She’s ready to step out on the town with her man for a night to remember. This glamorous lady takes charge & isn’t afraid of following her dreams or writing her destiny. The vintage glamour valentine craves adventure & finds inspiration around every corner.
This couple is glammed up & ready for a romantic night out together. Their date night begins with an elegant dinner at one of the swankiest restaurants in town. They have reservations, of course, & enjoy their delicious meal over meaningful conversation & loving glances. This couple then finds the best live show to see on this special night. Maybe it’s the symphony, the opera, a broadway show, or even a ballet! (Richmond Ballet will be performing Cinderella this Valentine’s Day!) After an incredible performance, they slip into the speak easy they’ve heard so much about & enjoy fancy cocktails for the remainder of the night.
What are your plans for Valentine’s Day? Do you connect with this vintage glamour valentine?
When you think of Paris, what comes to your mind? For me, it’s romance, effortless style, hours at the café down the street, & beautiful buildings everywhere. Even the word, Paris, has a dreamy feeling to it. This Valentine’s Day, why not pretend you’re in “The City Of Love” for the evening? Bring that Parisienne romance & effortless style wherever you will be spending Valentine’s Day this year. What kind of date will the pink & Parisienne valentine go on & what will she wear?
What She Wears
The pink & Parisienne valentine wears the most effortlessly chic item of clothing: the classic wrap dress. It’s pink, feminine, comfortable to wear, & universally flattering. A dress like this is perfect to wear out to eat since it does a great job of hiding any food babies one might acquire.
I imagine the couple going out to a jazz club for dinner, drinks, & incredible live music. They talk about their passions, people watch, & even get up & dance, if the music is just right. Once they’ve had their fill of people for the night, they stop for a sweet treat, which if she were me would be ice cream. They then return home for an evening of wine, French film watching (try Amélie), & romance.
I’m bringing out my favorite spring pastels a bit earlier than usual. Warm pastel layers are absolutely perfect for this time of year. This look features feminine pastels, pearls, florals, & sparkles all combined into one dreamy outfit.
We came across this sweet pastel house that matched my outfit perfectly. It was totally meant to be! I felt like a pastel princesses outside my cute little castle. But in all honesty…how adorable is that house & when can I move in?!
When branching out & mixing different colors together, I’ve found one easy way to ensure success. Take this look for example. See the colors in my floral bag? They are also seen throughout my entire outfit. Find a bag, scarf, shoe, or accessory that has a print or design which mixes different colors, & let it be your guide to choosing the rest of your look.
Building Your Winter Pastel Wardrobe
I’m so drawn to this mint color at the moment. Not to mention, it compliments my favorite shade of pastel pink beautifully. Having warm knits in feminine pastels shades are so helpful when putting together outfits in late winter & early spring. Make sure they are not too long or oversized so they can be worn with both jeans & high waisted skirts.
Pink Tulle Skirt
My pink tulle skirt is the most beautiful & quintessentially feminine staple in my wardrobe. I mean, even Carrie Bradshaw wore it! A piece like this is so versatile & easy to wear. I am also a ballerina in real life, so twirling around in a tutu is one of my very favorite things to do. A skirt like this brings me so much joy. This pastel pink goes with just about every single color as well, so it should fit into any wardrobe with ease.
I’m typically a gold girl through & through, but I’m just loving the way silver pairs with pastels. My silver sparkly Mary Janes (similar here) have been worn so much recently. Mixing them with outfits that feature my beloved pastel pieces are my absolutely favorite way to wear them. Whether you like silver or not, a pair of sparkly shoes & a tulle skirt are just a match made in heaven.
Affordable Ways To Stay On Trend
An easy & fairly inexpensive way to be on trend this spring/summer is by wearing fun headbands. I’m totally obsessing over this trend. Brands are coming out with so many different varieties & styles of headbands, making it so easy to find the best fit for your wardrobe & your budget. Styles I’m loving include embellished (like my pearl one worn in this post), scarf print headbands like this one, & knotted or floral headbands.
Faux Fur Coats & Jackets
Faux fur pieces can get really expensive. If you love the look of items like this, but aren’t able to invest in ones on the current market, look around in your local Goodwill stores. I’ve found 2 of my faux fur coats & jackets at Goodwill (see them on the blog here & here). Another way to add them to your wardrobe requires a little bit of patience. Look for out of season sales. These faux fur pieces are timeless, & won’t be going out of style, so buying them during the off season & waiting for next winter is a safe option. I post a lot of sale updates & my favorite affordable pieces over on my Facebook page, so don’t forget to follow me there for out of season sales & ways to save your money.
Create Your Own Fairytale
Need your own princess moment? Find ways to spark joy & build confidence in your own life. Maybe start a dream journal! Dream big! Seek the beauty around you & be the princess of your life. Create your own fairytale, & build your wardrobe to match.
This past year, I’ve loved exploring & playing more with print mixing. We’ve talked about the basics, we’ve played around with mixing pieces in the same print, & also played around with florals & stripes. Today’s look features 6 prints & textures with one common factor: they are all black & white. I love the statement this look makes while still remaining so neutral. Another reason why these pieces play so well together is because the prints are all different sizes. The large polka dots combined with the medium stripes & the smaller houndstooth & check prints create a perfect balance.
If you are wanting to start playing around with mixing prints or even just mixing more items within your wardrobe, it all comes down to shopping wisely & knowing your personal style. What colors do you wear most? (I recently re-organized my closets in color order & it has been life changing!) When adding more prints into your wardrobe, think about the colors that comprise the print. Do you own several pieces in those colors? If so, that item is likely to fit into your wardrobe in a more seamless manner. Shopping wisely is key to having a well curated closet without excess.
I was actually so nervous about putting together this look. In my head it seemed like there was a lot going on & it would look too cluttered, but honestly I’m obsessed with this look & cannot wait to wear it out again! All it took was a little bit of courage for me to step out of my comfort zone & create one of my favorite outfits ever. Be fearless. Don’t be afraid to try something new. You might just love it!
Hello lovelies, & welcome to 2019! Up until now, my winter wardrobe has been centered around the holidays & being very festive. Now, it’s still so cold outside, but I’m ready to move on from my holiday looks to a more feminine winter wardrobe for everyday wear. Even though it’s cold, I still prefer to wear dresses on most days, so my knee high boots are getting quite a lot of wear for the extra warmth. Faux fur is also a must for my stylish winter wardrobe. It’s the perfect way to be cozy & chic at the same time. While I do love these styling elements, my favorite rule for layering & choosing my ensemble this winter is to stick to 2 colors only.
The 2 Color Rule
This outfit features shades of pink & brown. Sticking to two colors or shades of those two colors is a classic & easy way to put together a great & stylish winter look. Remember to think about your shoes & accessories when applying this rule. Scarves, hats, sunglasses, earrings, gloves, etc. The possibilities are endless! Get creative with the colors you want to mix. Combos I’m loving include black & navy, pink & purple, blue & white, & mint & blush. This rule is perfect for trying out new color combinations. I have a whole board on my Pinterest to which I pin all of my color mixing inspiration to. Follow me on Pinterest here.
The weather is definitely starting to get cooler here in Richmond. I had my first hot chocolate last week while picking out our Christmas tree & haven’t stopped drinking them since. It was on that same cold day last week when I told Ben that the first really cold day of the season hits me hard. It’s like I forget how the bitter cold feels every year. But how could I forget?!
Even though it’s getting colder & colder everyday, this season brings about the most parties & events. Which means we need party outfits that will help you stay warm(er) in the cold. This outfit is very festive with a bit of shine & a bow, but it’s pink from head to toe. I love wearing pink for the holidays. It’s a great way to take a break from the red & green all around. Let’s get into all the festive bows & velvet for this holiday season.
More Bows Please
Ever since I was a child, I have loved bows. I used to wear bows in my hair every single day. The bigger the better. Don’t get me wrong, I still love bows in my hair, but now I’ve fallen in love with wearing bows on my clothes, not just in my hair. They are the perfect feminine touch to any outfit.
Bows feel especially festive this time of year. Maybe it’s from seeing all of the presents wrapped up in bows, I don’t know. All I know is my love for bows is through the roof this time of year. Because of this, when I saw this dainty bow silk cami, I knew I would wear it time & time again. I also have recently purchased this amazing pair of bow earrings that I’m literally obsessed with. You just can’t go wrong with a good bow.

Pile On The Velvet
Isn’t velvet just the dreamiest material? It just feels so good! Not only does it feel good, It does a great job of keeping you warm, too. This is precisely why this pink velvet pleated midi skirt is just perfect for the holiday season. It’s so cozy & flattering to wear while also looking fancy & festive. I also paired this look with a pair of pink velvet heels, although I would highly recommend bringing a pair of fuzzy slippers in the car to wear before & after the event.
