The Nordstrom Sale Is On!

For the past week, this sale has only been open to Nordstrom card holders, but now it’s finally open to everyone! Things in the sale always sell out SO fast, but if there is an item you particularly love, keep an eye on it because the frequently restock well loved items in the sale.

Yesterday, I went in my local Nordstrom & did a dressing room try on for you guys. Sometimes, it’s just better seeing the items on someone you know rather than on a model or on a rack. I tried on quite a few pieces & linked other items within the sale that I would style each piece with. Most of these items are for the upcoming fall season. It’s coming up quick (even though it’s still super hot!), so now is the perfect time to shop those essential items your wardrobe really needs. Towards the bottom, I also shared some beauty & home favorites that are included in the sale as well!

Happy Shopping!

This peachy-pink sweater is oh-so-soft! I love the fit as well. It’s not too tight but not oversized either. For the skirt, I love a good plaid print in the fall. Such a feminine cut, perfect for work. This can be dressed up with heels, but I’m really feeling these sweet, scalloped flats.

I was not expecting to fall so hard for this dress! It’s stretchy, but firm so it holds everything in. The material is thick, almost sweater-like, perfect to keep you warm on chilly nights. Plus, the skirt is SO flattering. You could even wear this into the winter with this emerald faux fur jacket & these gorgeous lace heels.

Ok, ok, ok…this is the perfect thing to throw on & go. I love the care-free look of pairing this cream sweater dress with a pair of brown knee high boots & a green, round, croc-style bag.

How stunning is this emerald jumpsuit?! This would be perfect for a fall wedding or even a Christmas party. I would style this dress with some feminine pink pieces like this blush coat & these pink croc-style block heels.

This light sweater top has almost all of my favorite colors in its stripes. In this photo, I have these skinny jeans on, but I’d love to style it with these wide leg denim pants & these burgundy shoes with a small heel to elongate my look.

This classic Parisian outfit that makes a great go-to look. I love that this striped boatneck top has the cutest scoop back. It’s those little details that really elevate your look. Pair it with a great pair of skinny jeans & this iconic trench coat. I truly believe every woman needs a good trench coat in her wardrobe (see all my classic wardrobe essentials here).

The cutest & softest roll neck sweater I’ve tried on in a while. Once again, the colors are just perfection & the length pairs great with skinny jeans. Throw a good trench coat over your shoulders & you’re good to go.

I’ll admit, pullovers like this are not the most fun thing to purchase, but I’m always glad I have them. This one has nice snap details & I love the unique color. Something like this is great to have to go on walks outside, to wear on holiday with family, & to wear to fall bonfires. Pair this with skinny jeans or leggings & a pair of cute Hunter boots.

I’m desperate for a good navy sweater, & this navy chenille one seems just about perfect. I love the neckline & the fit of this to wear with high waisted skirts throughout the fall season. It would also look amazing with these wide leg cropped jeans & tweed heels.

I have a pullover so similar to this one, & I wear it all the time. Wear it with your comfies around the house or to run errands, or dress it up just a bit for coffee or lunch with a friend, with a pair of skinny jeans & this tan pair of knee high boots.

These were my top 5 pieces from my try on!

Even More Beautiful Than I’d Imagined

Before visiting Charleston, I thought it would be a beautiful city based on the photos I had seen from other Charleston based bloggers. Let me just say, it’s even more beautiful than I had imagined it to be. It’s so clear that the owners of each home take pride in the care & look of their property & gardens. Just visiting this city has inspired me to step up my game, put in the work, & take pride in my home. In this post I want to share with you all the spaces that gave me major home & garden inspiration in Charleston which I plan on bringing to my home.

Home Inspiration

Each home in this charming city had its own unique color palette. The houses were painted most commonly in dreamy pastels with doors & shutters painted in colors to perfectly compliment it. There were interesting windows, impressive porches or piazzas – what native Charleston people like to call them, & gardens instead of yards. Each home told a story & had a personality of its own.

This got me thinking. What story does my home tell? Does it give a good & lasting impression? Is it warm & inviting? This year, I want to write a story for my home by putting in work to then let the house do the talking. The colors, the textures, the right amount of whimsy & structure, the sweet city of Charleston has totally inspired me to incorporate these lovely traits into my home right here in RVA.

In The Garden

I could talk about the gardens in Charleston for days! What a dream! You can tell how much thought & care goes into each home’s personal garden. First of all, the window boxes were to die for. They were bursting with the most stunning blooms, in colors that complimented the vibe of the house. I also fell in love with the way they used vines to line steps, grow in a pattern to decorate the side of a house, or to add the perfect amount of texture to a home, making it feel alive. Another garden detail I loved was their use of pots. We saw this when we were on our honeymoon in Italy (see here: 1/2/3), but the way they group pots together & use them to fill & decorate every space is just beautiful. I already know this will be an obsession of mine this season!

Dream Big

Being the dreamer that I am, I’ve recently dreamed some big dreams for our home garden (thanks to Monty Don!). I would love to have an arch of climbing roses to dress our front door & flowers in bloom during each season around the property. Another goal I have for our garden is to create a cozy space for us to sit outside & enjoy the nice weather. How lovely would it be to have a couch outside for Ben & I to cuddle up on or to entertain guest with? I also have a dream to build a back porch (or piazza) under a pergola someday.

One final garden dream I have is to have a garden full of blooms, kind of like a small scale farm. I would not only fill my home with the blooms, but give them to friends & put together flower arrangements either for a side gig or just for fun. Flowers just make me so happy.

What home & garden dreams do you have?

Bringing Spring To Our Home

DIY Spring DBringing Spring To Our Homeoor Decor

A Happy Welcome

Aren’t tulips just the happiest & most cheerful flowers you’ve ever seen?! I desperately wanted to change up the decor on our front door for the springtime, & came up with the idea to hang a basket of happy tulips. These little pretties brighten my day every single day. They are also a little sign that even though it’s still quite cold outside, spring is literally right around the corner. I just love spring, & cannot wait for the city to be filled with blooms & sunshine.

The Simple DIY Door Decor

This little DIY project was actually so easy to do. All I needed was a basket or vessel to hold the tulips, a bit of flower foam, silk pink & white tulips, & some burlap ribbon. First, I filled the bottom of the basket with flower foam. Then I cut & arranged the tulips by sticking the stems into the flower foam until the desired look was created. I finished it off by tying a pretty bow using the the burlap ribbon in order for the basket to hang on our door. In the end, I had enough to make 2 arrangements so we were able to keep one at our front door & we put the other one in our kitchen on the back door. Ben has even expressed how happy these make him on a daily basis. They are just the cutest things.

Spring Cocktail

Spring Cocktail

I love playing with seasonal scents & flavors. This time of year makes me crave all things floral & lemon. There is something so fresh & crisp about these flavors that reminds me of warm nights with friends & feeling the sunshine on my face. The only thing better than florals & lemons would have to be combining them, & I have a spring cocktail that does just that!

Spring Cocktail

Here’s What You Need For This Spring Cocktail:

Your favorite lemonade (mine is the Simply Lemonade)

Ice cubes

A lemon

A few sprigs of thyme

1/2-1 shot of gin depending on how strong you like your drinks

1/2-1 shot of elderflower liquor

I’m gonna be honest, I don’t like really strong drinks. I like to have the option to have more than one without feeling it the next day. You know what I’m saying? So I’m going to share with you how I make this drink, but if you have more of a heavy hand, feel free to make it as strong as you’d like!

Let Me Make You A Drink

Start with a fun glass. I chose to use my mason jars because they just go with the warmer weather in my mind. Fill the glass about 1/3 of the way with ice. Then, I add 1/2 shot of Citadelle & 1/2 shot of St Elder Elderflower Liquor to the ice & top it off with Simply Lemonade, leaving just a little bit of room at the top. Next, I squeeze half a lemon into the glass, making it taste extra fresh. Then for garnish, I like to add a few sprigs of thyme, a slice of lemon in the drink, & a lemon slice on the rim because it looks so cute! There is something so satisfying about a pretty cocktail, & I think this one takes the cake!

Spring Cocktail

I think another reason why I love this cocktail in particular is because lemons make me think of our upcoming honeymoon to the Amalfi Coast! Give me all the lemon things! Including this dreamy Lemoncello candle I’m obsessing over at the moment. If you are a lemon lover like me, you need this candle!

Cheers!
