A Glossier Update - What Am I Still Using?

2 Years Later…

I’ve been a Glossier Rep for about 2 years now & it’s been about a year since I updated my Best & Worst Of Glossier post. Today I want to be brutally honest & share with you the products that have stood the test of time. These products are either ones I’ve loved for the entire 2 years, ones that are newer launches that I’m loving, or items that I’ve changed my mind about & fallen in love with in a whole new way. For whatever reason they are featured in this post, know that I truly, truly adore each & every one of these product & use them every week, if not every day!

Make sure you read my Best & Worst Of Glossier Post to hear about which products you should really pass on. I reviewed each product I’ve tried & give you my honest feeling on which products are worth your money & which ones you definitely don’t need in your life.

A Glossier Update - What Am I Still Using?

Let’s Start With Skincare!

These 6 items are products my skin truly loves. They are hydrating & plumping & are full of key ingredients for healthy skin. I love that while these products are so hydrating, they have never made my skin break out. Even though my skin leans on the oily side, these products keep my skin healthy & moisturized without looking or feeling greasy.

Milky Oil

The Milky Oil is perfect for taking off my makeup at the end of the day. I used to use it with the Glossier cotton rounds, but I have recently started using these really nice & affordable reusable cotton rounds in an effort to create less waste. This formula always feels so good on my skin & melts away my makeup with ease.

Milky Jelly Cleanser

This cleanser is my favorite to use when I travel. It feels like such a treat to use! The Milky Jelly Cleanser perfectly cleans my skin without stripping away any necessary moisture.

Solution

Glossier’s Solution is a holy grail product in my collection. Again, I use this on my reusable cotton rounds about once or twice a week. If there is ever a time when my skin is breaking out, I will use it more frequently. It has a way of perfectly transforming my skin. I love to use a luxurious moisturizer after applying this & my go-to is the Pacifica Wake Up Beautiful sleep mask.

Priming Moisture Rich + Super Bounce

About 3 times a week I combine Super Bounce with the Priming Moisture Rich as a part of my evening skincare routine. My skin absolutely adores this combination. It feels so luxurious & rich on the skin. These products last quite long & are definitely worth repurchasing.

Bubble Wrap

This is the newest skincare product by Glossier that I have fallen in love with. I’m so obsessed with the way it makes my skin feel the next day after applying it on the skin under & around my eyes the night before. This eye cream really does plump, nourish, & revitalize the skin in a major way! If you haven’t tried this yet, you need to!

Body Hero Daily Perfecting Cream

This summer, I was totally smitten with this product. My favorite way to apply it to my legs & arms is in combination with the Nuxe Dry Oil. They are literally a match made in heaven & make your skin glow like no other. The scent, though not my favorite, is one that I have grown to love & crave over time. This is truly a body hero & my skin drinks it in.

Balm Dot Com

This lip balm is a MUST HAVE product for my day to day life. I always have to apply a nice layer to my lips & cuticle before I go to bed. It’s a ritual I have grown to love. I have so many flavors, but my favorites are the mint & the rose. The berry flavor, which is their newest launch, is one I’m dying to try out, however.

Time For Some Amazing Makeup Products!

Face

Ok, ok, ok…so in my Best & Worst Of Glossier post, I mentioned that I never got on with Cloud Paint. Well, this summer, everything changed. My “no makeup, makeup” routine now includes me mixing my Haloscope in Quartz with my Cloud Paint in the shade Dusk. I’ve been totally into this look recently & now I’m dying to try more shades! Maybe Puff? Which Cloud Paint shades are your favorites?

Another great face product I’ve been really into lately is the Niteshine in shade Pale Pearl. It blends easily & perfectly glows on the skin.

Eyes

Before we technically get into the eyes, I have to mention my one & only true love…the Boy Brow. I literally use this product daily & cannot leave the house without applying it. Next on my list…the Brow Flick! If you’ve tried it…tell me EVERYTHING!

For eyes, I’m really into the Colorslide liners. I have the shades Magic Carpet & Candyland, which is my favorite. these glide on the lid with ease & last all day! They are amazing & can someone please buy me one of each of the 14 incredible shades?

At my work, we like to have Sparkle Fridays & the Glitter Gelée is so much fun to wear on the lid. I have the shade Phantasm which has the coolest effect. It’s opalescent & catches the light in a really special way. Again, I’m dying to try the other 3 shades soon.

Lastly, for mascara, I’ve been wearing the Glossier Lash Slick on a daily basis. No joke, this is the ONLY mascara that doesn’t transfer or flake off during my entire work day. I am a professional ballet dancer, so I sweat, touch, & partner with other dancers for 8 hours a day, & I never have to worry about this mascara giving me any issues. A total lifesaver.

Lips

Generation G lipstick are just so so good. I love how you are able to build up the color as much as you want. The end result looks like a perfectly blotted lipstick that is long wearing & comfortable on the lips. I have the shades Cake & Crush & I wear them all the time. Totally worth the money.

The Glossier Lip Gloss is one of the juiciest & shiniest lip glosses I’ve ever tried. Now they have 3 shades that are all calling my name! Even Michelle Obama wears it!

The Most Photographed Day Of Your Life

On my wedding day, I knew the look I was going for. I wanted to look like me, but the very best version of myself. Since I have makeup, I know my face, & I’ve watched enough YouTube to have at least a minor degree in makeup application, I decided to do my own makeup on the big day. But this wasn’t my first go at bridal makeup – or my last! Over the past couple of years I’ve had the pleasure of doing bridal makeup & bridesmaid makeup for a handful of weddings. I am by no means an expert, by I have learned so much & I have been wanting to share this with you for some time now. With wedding season upon us, let’s talk bridal makeup tips.

Bridal Makeup Tips
Bridal Makeup Tips

Top Tips

When I envision bridal makeup, I see glowing skin, flattering lipstick, bright eyes, & a sculpted face. Make sure you use a concealer that’s slightly lighter than your foundation & don’t only use it under the eyes. Take it down the center of the face from the center of the forehead to the chin. Doing this helps uniform the look as well as brightens up the center of the face.

Use a good contour. I’m totally smitten by the Charlotte Tilbury Contour & Highlight Wands & I recommend them to every bride. They just work, it’s as simple as that! I use this brush to blend in the contour & my beautyblender to blend out the highlight.

I’m not sure if this is a tip necessarily, but I do not recommend using false lashes on your wedding day unless you use them on a daily basis already. Not because I’m not comfortable putting them on, because I wear them for shows all the time, but because they don’t look natural on me. On the most photographed day of my life, I want to truly look like myself. If you don’t think your lashes curled with mascara will be enough, I would recommend getting a lift or extensions for the wedding over applying false lashes.

My Must-Have Products I Use On Every Bride

For foundation, every bride’s skin will require something unique to them. I always mix in a drop of my Cover FX Custom Enhancer Drops in the shade, Moonlight, to whatever foundation the bride chooses. My go-to concealer for brides in actually the concealer I use every day – the Maybelline Age Rewind Eraser Concealer. To highlight the center of the face, I sweep a nice layer of shades from my Hourglass Ambient Lighting Palette. Those powders are pure magic on the face.

I’ve played around with looks from so many different eye shadow palettes, but I’ve found my bridal holy grail. The Urban Decay Naked2 Palette will forever be my go-to for brides. My favorite colors are Tease in the crease, Snakebite to darken up the outer v, Bootycall all over the lid, & Chopper on the outer half of the lid for a bit of warmth & shine.

For bridal lipstick, I would have to recommend using either YSL or Charlotte Tilbury products. On my wedding day, I layer two YSL lip products on my lips (shade 11 & shade 70) & I absolutely loved how fresh & feminine it looked. Charlotte Tilbury lipsticks have mad staying powers & always seem to wear off so well! Even the non-matte K.I.S.S.I.N.G. lipsticks last for so long & look amazing. You can’t go wrong with either of these brands.

Ready For A Fresh Face

Over the past five years, my love for makeup has grown & grown. I love reading reviews on how good a product’s formula is, if it’s long lasting, or if it has any skincare benefits, to find the best of the best products out there. My collection ranges from more high end beauty products to some of the most affordable & amazing products on the market. I’m so excited to share with you my very favorite, tried & true, best affordable makeup products.

The Best Affordable Makeup

A Good Base

It’s so important to start with a solid base when applying makeup. So many of my very favorite makeup base products come right from the drugstore. To start, I like to use the Almay Anti-Aging Smart Shade tinted moisturizer. Not only does this product have anti-aging properties, but it also has SPF 20 & does not break me out. It’s so easy to use. I just apply it with my hands like a moisturizer. Then I go with my ride or die concealer by Maybelline. Lastly, the Maybelline Fit Me matte pressed powder is key for a cake-free, flawless looking face.

Make It Multipurpose

The secret to a fresh, cohesive face is to let your already affordable products, be multipurpose products. My favorite look at the moment, uses 3 face products as eye products. I apply my Physician’s Formula Bronzer to bronze my face, as well as the crease color for my easy eye look. Then I use my Milani Luminoso Blush on the apples of my cheeks & then as a wash of color on my eyelids. To finish the eye look & brighten my face, I use an old favorite highlighter, Colourpop’s Wisp, on the high points of my cheek bones as well as in the inner corner of my eyes.

Don’t Forget The Lips!

It’s so much fun to play around with inexpensive lip products. This is a great way to test out new shades that may be a little bit out of your comfort zone. Drugstore & affordable lipsticks are great for building your collection & figuring out what shades really suit you. One way to make your more affordable lipsticks look more luxury is to layer them in order to create more depth to your look. My favorite affordable combination right now is to first apply a layer of the Maybelline matte shade called “Lust For Blush”, then to swipe on a coat of the L’Oreal lipstick in the shade “Peach Fuzz”, which has more of a sheen to it. I love playing with a mixture of warm & cool tones to create my own unique shade.

Do you ever look at someone & just notice a radiance about them? Their eyes are bright, cheekbones are glistening, & all while not looking greasy or artificial. They just glow. I want that look too! So along with drinking extra water, I’ve been trying to recreate that look, lately, with a few of my very favorite makeup products & it’s my new obsession. I mean, who doesn’t love that “glow from within” look?

How I Get The “Glow From Within” Look

To get this look, I truly believe Hourglass does it best. They just get it so right time and time again. Their products give my face all the glow with no unwanted shine or grease. Lately, I’ve exclusively used their powders on my face. They last all day & transform my skin in a way no other product has done before.

Ambient Lighting Palette

I can’t help but use this palette every single day. Whether I’m going full glam, or for a more minimal look, it’s safe to say that I used this palette in some way, shape, or form. Nothing lights up my face like this little gem does. My favorite way to use this product is after I’ve applied my foundation or tinted moisturizer & my concealer. I take a natural haired tapered brush, mix the two lighter shades together & apply them to the center of my face. Lately, I’ve also been using the darkest shade as a pre-bronzer. I apply this on the perimeter of my face. The finish of these powders on the face is absolutely flawless.

Ambient Lighting Bronzer

This is my most recent Hourglass purchase, & it’s just perfect for summer. It builds beautifully for a natural looking golden goddess effect. This bronzer does have a sheen, but any shimmer seen is so soft & lovely. It’s never choppy or patchy. My favorite shade in this range is the Luminous Bronze Light.

Ambient Lighting Blush

It seems only natural to finish off my face with an Hourglass blush! I own a blush palette that was unfortunately limited edition, but all of their colors are gorgeous. The same rave reviews apply to these lovelies: long-lasting, perfect pigmentation, & all the right kind of glow. My two favorite shades are Luminous Flush & Mood Exposure.

Are you loving this glowing skin look as much as I am?

Best & Worst of Glossier

Best & Worst Of Glossier

Best & Worst of Glossier

*Updated as of 09/09/18*

I’ve been a Glossier rep for about a year now, & have been testing out & playing with their products for over a year. During that time, I’ve definitely discovered which products are must-haves in my collection & which ones I honestly would pass on. Today I want to share with you my honest opinion: The Best & Worst of Glossier.

(Shop Glossier here!)

Best & Worst of Glossier

The Milky Jelly Cleanser

I truly love this product. This cleanser is my go-to in-shower facial cleanser. It’s perfect for cleansing & waking up my skin in the mornings without stripping away any moisture. My skin loves this stuff, & therefore, so do I! I’ve almost used a full jar of this, & I know I will be repurchasing this gem.

Skin Tint

I’m a makeup girl. Don’t get me wrong, I love a good tinted moisturizer, but this really doesn’t do much of anything in terms of coverage. If you have amazing skin to begin with, I can see how this would give you that nice dewy skin look. I tent to lean towards products with a little bit more coverage. I will probably use it more often over the summer when I want a “fresh face” look since I already own it, but I don’t see myself repurchasing this one.

Best & Worst of Glossier

Lidstar

Again, these seem so fun. I love the idea of this product, but the color & glitter payoff is just not what I expected. My favorite shade is moon because it gives your lid that wet shine that looks so cool. I find these products hard to blend well, & when patting them in with your fingers, the color goes away almost completely. I will continue to use them on “Sparkle Fridays” but I don’t see myself repurchasing them.

Priming Moisture Rich

I cannot say enough good things about this product! This will forever be in my nighttime rotation. I love how luxurious this moisturizer smells & the way it feels on the skin is dreamy! I’m almost through my second jar of this, & I know I will be repurchasing this again & again!

Best & Worst of Glossier

Cloud Paint

I have this product in the shade dusk, which is such a nice shade. I ONLY use this product on no makeup makeup days. The more I use it, the more I find it difficult to blend. It ends up looking like paint on my skin instead of a seamless wash of color. When I do use it, I make sure to spend the extra time blending with my hands & my damp lemon drop. Again, no repurchasing from me. (use code FELIXANDFLORA25 for 25% off my favorite sponge, the Lemon Drop)

Haloscope

This product is one of my very favorites! I have the shade quartz & it’s home is almost always my purse. My favorite way to use this product is to refresh my skin during the day! I pop a little bit on my cheekbones &, voilá! Fresh & glowing skin instantly! If you haven’t tried this, you must!

Best & Worst of Glossier

Stretch Concealer

Sadly, I just don’t see how people use this with success?! I hate to say that, but this product looks terrible on me. I’d like to think that I don’t have that many lines around my eyes, but after using this product, it makes me think I do! I have tried blending with a sponge, with my fingers, with a brush & nothing seems to make this look good. Of course I even set it with powder & still my eyes look like a creasy mess! If you have any tips on using this product, please share them…but this one is a pass for me.

Generation G

This ones another good one in my opinion! I love that this can be a sheer wash of color on the lips, but you can also build up the color for a bolder look! I have one in the shade Crush & Cake, but the shades Jam & Like are definitely next on my list to purchase! They feel good on my lips & look fabulous!

Best & Worst of Glossier

Solution

I’m such a firm believer in this product! I started using this in a below zero temperature winter while my skin was quite dry (very unusual for me). I was hesitant because this product has salicylic acid in it which typically dries my skin out even more. Not only did my skin not get dry, but it improved. I was amazed! My skin has definitely been clearer thanks to this product. I also was having issues with my back not being clear, & the combination of Solution & an overnight moisture mask cleared things right up! Definitely keeping a jar of this on hand at all times!

Body Hero Daily Oil Wash

This product has definitely grown on me. First of all, the scent gets a major thumbs from me. It’s dreamy! Also, I’ve found that I enjoy using this as a more luxurious extra step in the shower instead of as an actual body wash. I don’t feel that it really cleans me on its own, but I love the moisture surge it provides for my skin. This is my last step in the shower on those days I have a little bit extra time to give my skin some love.

Best & Worst of Glossier

Body Hero Daily Perfecting Cream

The way that this cream melts into my skin is divine! I love how soft my skin feels all day long after using this product. It gives a lovely sheen to the skin for a subtle glow without being sparkly. The only thing I would say about this product is I wish the smell sat on my skin as well as the Daily Oil Wash does. For some reason, the smell of this product does not smell quite as good once it hits my skin. For those of you who have tried it, do you feel the same way? I just wish the smell was better. That’s all. It’s not bad, just not as good as I hoped it would be.

Balm Dot Com

I’ve done quite a few appreciation posts on my Instagram for these guys (see here & here). I don’t think there is a human on this earth who would not like this product. This is my very favorite lip balm I have ever tried. I have the flavors Rose, Mint, Coconut, & Birthday. Coconut is a religious part of my nighttime ritual. I apply a generous amount to my lips & my cuticles every night before I go to sleep. I can really tell a difference in the morning when I use this product. If you don’t own one, go buy one now…or three!

Invisible Shield

I had really high hopes for this product. So much so that I used it for the first time just 2 weeks before my wedding day! Let’s just say my skin did not enjoy this product. I broke out almost immediately after using this sunscreen. Don’t worry, my skin cleared up for my wedding, but it left such a bad first impression that I don’t think I will ever be using this product again. Sadly.

Best & Worst of Glossier

Wowder

This is the newest addition to my Glossier collection. I’ve just started playing with this product, but so far I’m really loving it. It sits nicely on the skin & lasts all day! That’s all I have today for now, but I’ll update you again soon in my Instagram stories.

Wowder Brush

Will say this brush is very aesthetically pleasing. If you’re looking for a pretty brush for pictures or to have in your collection, go for it. This is just honestly not the brush I would reach for to apply powder to my face.  It’s very soft, I will give it that, just not my favorite.

Glossier You

There is something quite satisfying about this fragrance. They say that it smells like “you”, & strangely enough it does! I love the way it smells on me & how it changes on each person! My favorite way to wear this is to apply a few sprays everyday as my “base” scent, then layer other fragrances over top depending on how I’m feeling that day! Delightful!

Super Bounce

I’ve recently added this gem to my Glossier collection, but let me tell you, it’s off to a great start. This face serum is packed with Hyaluronic Acid & Vitamin B5 to help plump & smooth the skin. I love mixing this in with my moisturizer at night & my skin seems to love it! Definitely worth the money.

Best & Worst of Glossier

Boy Brow

Oh, the beloved Boy Brow. This product has been a game changer for my brows! I can literally only use this product & they look awesome. It thickens & tints my brows all while locking them into place for the rest of the day. Love how much time I save with this product. A few swipes through & they’re good to go! (helpful tip:make sure you wipe off the extra at the end so you don’t initially apply too much product!)

Moon Moisture Mask

This mask is a quick & easy way to pack moisture into the skin. Perfect for those days when your skin needs a little boost. I reached for this a lot during the winter, but I know my skin loves it no matter what season it is! All around a big win for me.

Best & Worst of Glossier

There are a few products that I haven’t tried yet: Priming Moisture (the original), Mega Greens Galaxy Pack mask, the other 2 serums, the new Zit Stick & the Soothing Face Mist. Are you interested in me testing any of these products out for you guys? What should be next on my list?

Remember, when shopping with me, you will receive 10% off your first order, as well as free shipping for orders over $30! Great deal, huh?!

Frequently Asked Beauty Questions

Beauty Questions

Hello Everyone!

I’ve been getting a lot of beauty related questions recently, so I decided to do a little roundup & answer some of them.

Which comes first, foundation or concealer?

One thing that I love about makeup is that so much of it is up to your personal interpretation. That being said, I don’t think there is a right or wrong way. I personally prefer to apply my foundation before my concealer. The reason I choose to apply my makeup this way is that I like to apply my concealer in a lighter shade to not only conceal, but also to highlight & brighten my face.

How often do you clean your makeup brushes?

I would love to say that I clean them once a week…but if I’m honest, I typically deep clean my brushes about once every 3-4 weeks. My very favorite product to use when cleaning my makeup brushes & sponges (let’s be real…my one & only sponge: get 25% off with code FELIXANDFLORA25) is the Beauty Blender Solid Cleanser. It’s the only cleanser I have found that totally removes all traces of makeup, fully restoring each brush & sponge to it’s original color. When I don’t have time for a deep clean, but I need a quick spot clean, I use the Cinema Secrets Brush Cleaning spray. This gets the job right away & dries almost instantly! This should not be used instead of a deep clean, but it can prolong the time span between each cleanse.

What order do you apply your powder products?

1. Under eye setting powder

2. All over face powder

3. Bronzer

4. Highlighter

5. Blush

Are primers necessary?

Honestly, on a daily basis I don’t use actual primers. I let my morning serum & moisturizer act as my makeup primer. On night’s when I go out, or for special events, I like to use my Guerlain primer to help plump & firm my skin. It’s like magic! I think there is some value to using pore blurring primers, but I tend to skip that step. On very special occasions where I know there will be pictures taken, I will use an eyeshadow primer like this one or this one to ensure my eye look will last the whole night.

How do you make your makeup last all day?

I get this question a lot! I have been using the same setting spray for a couple of years now. Ben actually gave to me as a birthday present, & I’ve been loyal to it ever since. This setting spray is not only organic, but it’s cruelty free & under $12! It does such a great job of melding my powder products for a more natural look as well as prolonging wear of my makeup.

Thanks for your questions! Keep them coming!

I hope this post was helpful! xx
