A Year Of Color

A Year Of Color

Live Colorfully!

Just over a year ago, while I was in Italy, I made a vow to myself that I would live more colorfully. I wanted to learn to embrace & love every color, because seeing them all on display while on vacation made me so happy. It seemed to me that wearing more colors would therefore make me happier & maybe even that that joy would spread to those around me. You guys, I’m so happy to share that when looking back on posts from this past year that I have truly lived out a year of color. Scroll to see each color worn several times throughout the past year!

Now It’s Your Turn!

I’m definitely not finished with my color journey & I can’t wait to see what the coming year brings, but now I want to extend the challenge to all of you! I dare you to live colorfully. Explore some new colors this year by pairing them with colors you already know & love. Maybe you’re not ready for the whole rainbow, but start with one. Make an effort to incorporate one new color into your wardrobe over the next few months. I’d love to hear what colors you’re thinking about exploring! Comment down below which color or colors you want to explore more! If I have any helpful tips on them, I’ll share them with you!

The Perfect Outfit To Transition Into Spring

The Perfect Outfit To Transition Into Spring

1 Outfit, 2 Ways

When I saw this adorable set on Chicwish, I instantly fell in love. Not only with the sweet floral design, but with the color. I’ve been desperately trying to find a way to add orange into my wardrobe & this two piece set was a perfect fit. You want to know the best part about it? The skirt is actually a skort! It’s the perfect piece to be care-free & twirl around in.

With warm weather just out of reach, I decided to try styling this set for colder days. But I also wanted to show you how I would style it on warmer days too, so I just did, even though it was freezing outside. Keep reading to see this lovely look transformed. 1 outfit, 2 ways.

On Colder Days…

When the weather is still cold, but I still want to wear something fun & spring-y, pairing this set with tall boots is perfection. In this post, I chose my brown knee-high boots, but a lovely pair of over the knee boots would suit this look beautifully as well. To tie in the warmth of the orange & the brown boots, I wore my brown leather jacket.

For accessories & added my newest bag in my collection that I’m so obsessed with. It’s totally affordable (only $14!) & comes with an embroidered crossbody strap as well. In my hair I added a whimsical gold butterfly headband. Honestly, this was probably made for children, but I just love it so I got it anyways. I also wore my orange cat eye sunnies, my large bow studs, & my cute daisy ear cuff.

On Warmer Days…

When things start to warm up around here, this set is the perfect transitioning piece. Not only can it be worn together, but the top can be worn with jeans or another skirt & the skort can be worn with a variety of tops. But for this look, I kept the pieces together & let my legs be free. I paired it with my new blush espadrilles (which are under $40 & super comfortable) & a cute basket bag. To add a bit of feminine flair to this outfit, I tied my Gal Meets Glam scarf in a bow on my bag & wore my Oscar de la Renta bow earring dupes.

*Styling Tip*

This top has long sleeves with a cuff, but on warmer days, just push the cuff above your elbow to create a fun billowy sleeve.

Stepping Out

Typically, the items in my wardrobe tend to have the dreamy warm tones that I love so much, but I saw this dress & instantly felt inspired to create a lovely cool toned look. Maybe it’s the cooler weather, or the jacquard floral print, but either way, I couldn’t resist these cool toned vibes. In the moment when I was creating this outfit, I felt very out of my comfort zone. Looking back now though, I’m not sure why, because seeing these photos makes this look very much like me. This realization was further confirmation of my motto that if you’re questioning it…just wear it. Be fearless with your fashion!

Pop Of Warmth

Even though as we’ve discussed this look is very cool toned, I chose to mix it up & pair it with a very warm toned lip. This bright orange lipstick is one of my very favorites & I love how it looks with this outfit. It’s quite unexpected, but is a great pop of color in contrast with the blues of my look. A shade like this is great to have in your collection. It gives such a different look & feel to a typical red or pink lip.

Unexpected Shoes

So many different pairs of shoes would look just stunning with this look, but I decided to do a little bit of print mixing. Ginghams & florals play so well together, & since they were in the same color family, it was a perfect match. I love what a pop of print on your shoes does to an outfit. It’s that bit of extra detail that totally elevates your look.
