Honestly, I’ve never felt more like “me” than during this shoot. For so long, I put myself in a box of what I thought people wanted to see from me, but now I’m allowing myself to be creative & take risks & create content that I truly love. What can you expect to see from me moving forward…bold makeup, creative florals, fun accessories…& as always fearless, feminine fashion. I’m still going to be showcasing affordable fashion, just with a more creative flair. I hope you guys enjoy the new content as much as I do! <3
A great way to wear your spring & summer dresses while it’s still a bit chilly out is by layering fun, feminine blouses underneath. This maxi dress features the purple color I can’t get enough of this season. It’s everywhere & honestly all I want to wear ATM. I has so much fun putting this look together with the mixing prints, textures, & bright colors. Little details I love include the watercolor blush (inspired by this video), & my gold hoops.
Just over a year ago, while I was in Italy, I made a vow to myself that I would live more colorfully. I wanted to learn to embrace & love every color, because seeing them all on display while on vacation made me so happy. It seemed to me that wearing more colors would therefore make me happier & maybe even that that joy would spread to those around me. You guys, I’m so happy to share that when looking back on posts from this past year that I have truly lived out a year of color. Scroll to see each color worn several times throughout the past year!
Now It’s Your Turn!
I’m definitely not finished with my color journey & I can’t wait to see what the coming year brings, but now I want to extend the challenge to all of you! I dare you to live colorfully. Explore some new colors this year by pairing them with colors you already know & love. Maybe you’re not ready for the whole rainbow, but start with one. Make an effort to incorporate one new color into your wardrobe over the next few months. I’d love to hear what colors you’re thinking about exploring! Comment down below which color or colors you want to explore more! If I have any helpful tips on them, I’ll share them with you!
Maybe it’s just me, but it seems as though spring was here for about 3 weeks & now we are in full summer mode. At least here in Richmond, it’s already so hot & humid. Even though summer doesn’t technically start until June 21st, the weather certainly says otherwise. The weather & colors outside greatly affect the outfits I wear on a daily basis. Around this time of year, the sun has a way of bringing out all the warm tones of nature & casting a warm, yellow tint around us. Therefore, it’s easy to see why all I want to wear are lovely, feminine, warm tone pieces. What can I say, I like to blend in with nature!
This look is basically a compilation of all my current favorite things. First of all, this warm-toned, striped dress is so comfortable & on sale for under $25! I’m in love with the colors, the button front details, & the feminine ties on the sides. When I wear button front dresses that don’t have very full skirts, I like to unbutton a few of the bottom buttons to show a little leg & add more drama.
My blush espadrilles add the perfect touch of warmth & match my dress so well. Espadrilles are my favorite shoes to wear in the summer. They can be both casual & dressy, but they also provide those dreamy vacation vibes I crave on the daily.
My newest basket bag was an obvious choice to pair with this look. I love how the lines on my dress are mimicked by the structure of this bag. This Laura Ashley toile scarf was the perfect accessory to this bag. It’s warm pinky-peach tones are gorgeous & toile is a print I’ve loved since I was a child. I know this will be my most worn scarf of the season.
I know, I know…this is not my typical dress or skirt or even trouser look, but I’ve fallen hard for this pair of super affordable denim culottes. They are basically the flowing midi skirt version of jeans. If you, like me, are a lover of feminine fashion & anything with a bit of drama, I’m sure you’ll fall in love with these too. Especially after reading my full review of the jeans of the season, below…
You may think this shape would be a bit unflattering, but let me tell exactly why that’s not true. First of all, these pants are very high waisted. This is one of the very best features about these pants in my opinion because it cinches you in at the most ideal place to create that figure flattering silhouette. These jeans will go perfectly with my spring/summer shirts that are a bit more cropped as well as more flowy & billowing tops that I can wear tucked in. Then the cropped wide leg makes your ankles look skinny & then draws your focus back up to that cinched in waist line.
But Wait, There’s More
You guys, these pants are such a steal! At only $30, your spring wardrobe needs a pair. (Or if you’re like me, you might need two!) They’re flattering, affordable, & oh-so comfortable. I would even travel in them, they’re so comfortable. With so many brands out there coming out with their own version of these pants, I had to let you all know that these are the very best.
I’m totally a girl who loves color, but something about the freshness of spring makes me crave sweet, feminine neutral tones on the daily. This time of year I gravitate mostly towards white, beige, light pink, & navy. Those are my go-to colors that fit seamlessly into my spring wardrobe. I love finding really beautiful & affordable pieces in my spring neutrals to wear over & over all season long. Wearing quality pieces that are flattering on your body & make you feel your best are always a great way to spend your money.
What Makes A Piece Great?
First of all, fit is everything. Don’t settle for something that almost fits you. Choose to spend your money on the most figure flattering pieces so you know you’ll love wearing them over & over again. Then look for the details. I love feminine pieces with bow, pearls, buttons, flowers, puffy sleeves, & gold accents. Knowing what you like is half the battle. Choose details you are drawn to, then find pieces that incorporate those details into the design.
Finding quality neutral pieces at an affordable price is the best way to ensure your daily process of choosing what outfit to wear is as effortless & stress-free as possible.
Keeping Things Interesting
Another way to wear spring neutrals without feeling like your outfit is a bit boring is to spice up the silhouette or shape your outfit is creating. Why not try a pair of wide leg pants or culottes in your favorite neutral tone? Go with a wrap top or one with more dramatic sleeves. What about a neutral midi skirt with ruffles for a little pizazz? Add a bit of a statement shoe in those same neutral colors to really elevate your look. Or play a bit with textures & pair your go-to neutral look with a great woven bag.
When I saw this adorable set on Chicwish, I instantly fell in love. Not only with the sweet floral design, but with the color. I’ve been desperately trying to find a way to add orange into my wardrobe & this two piece set was a perfect fit. You want to know the best part about it? The skirt is actually a skort! It’s the perfect piece to be care-free & twirl around in.
With warm weather just out of reach, I decided to try styling this set for colder days. But I also wanted to show you how I would style it on warmer days too, so I just did, even though it was freezing outside. Keep reading to see this lovely look transformed. 1 outfit, 2 ways.
On Colder Days…
When the weather is still cold, but I still want to wear something fun & spring-y, pairing this set with tall boots is perfection. In this post, I chose my brown knee-high boots, but a lovely pair of over the knee boots would suit this look beautifully as well. To tie in the warmth of the orange & the brown boots, I wore my brown leather jacket.
