I fell in love with this skirt last year. Hard. I mean head over heels in love with this pretty little skirt. At the time, it seemed as though everyone had it. I even went into J.Crew & tried it on, which made me love it even more, but I couldn’t justify the price tag in that moment. Last month, while perusing the J.Crew Factory website, I found it online for a fraction of the cost! I knew it was finally time to make this skirt mine. Mine at last.
The shape of this skirt is one I knew I would wear year after year. It looks amazing with boots, & the many colors of the classic houndstooth print will go with infinite outfits for years to come. I love the feminine ruffle at the bottom as well as the comfortable feel of the elasticated waist. A timeless, classic piece in my wardrobe.
Whenever I’m unsure about what to wear on a fall morning, outfits like this one are always my go-to. It’s comprised of a simple template that can be created over and over again by just changing out the pieces. The template is as follows: a cozy fall sweater, a mini skirt, a scarf, & either a simple pair of ballet flats or knee high boots depending on how chilly it is outside. It’s that easy. This template creates the perfect fall silhouette that instantly makes you look put together & classically chic.
This bright orange-red color is so big this season. I love the combination of the bright chunky sweater with the matching ballet flats. The tan leather mini skirt I found at Zara last year is the perfect neutral piece to break up the color. I also just love how this black bag goes with the tan skirt. It’s such a classic fall combo. My favorite blue scarf really pulls this look together & gives the look that Parisian flare that I always crave in an outfit.

Now it’s your turn! Mix up some items in your wardrobe using this template & see how many new outfits you can make. It’s so easy! Let me know how it goes! xx
Fall brings about a sort of nostalgia for me. It takes me back to classic styles, traditional fall tones & a cross between Parisian & preppy style. It’s the chilly football games with friends, or the hot coffee on my morning commute in the City under the changing leaves. Fall means cozy, effortless, closeness, warmth, crisp air, joy, & romance. I want my clothes to embrace all of those things during this season & today I’m rounding up all of my favorite fall classics at the most affordable prices. There is something for everyone here. Let’s dive right into that classic feel.
I tried to stay under $50 in this round up, there are just a couple over but I had to still include them. These are all such gorgeous pieces, & if you hover over each picture, you can see the amazing price point they are at.
I actually own quite a few of these pieces. The picture of this navy & gold tweed skirt definitely doesn’t do it justice, but this has been in my wardrobe for over a year now, & is one of my fall favorites. Also, just purchased 2 new pairs of boots for the season (here & here) that are both under $45! Let me tell you, they are gorgeous! My green long sleeve dress (seen here) is under $25. You’ll be seeing this tweed jacket & this ruffled skirt here on the blog soon. Lastly, this super cute crossbody bag received so many compliments last season & I’m thrilled to see it around again.
While perusing through my favorite local antique store, I found this gorgeous scarf that quickly made a place in my wardrobe. I was immediately drawn to its lovely fall tones: the emerald green, the deep red, & the bright gold. Creating an outfit featuring this scarf was like stepping right into fall. I could imagine wearing this while the leaves are changing colors & starting to fall, the crisp air is surrounding me, while sipping on a pumpkin spice cappuccino.
This will only be my second year of truly embracing fall fashion. I love getting creative with the colors textures & layers that just scream fall. I tend to stick to the color palette of burgundy, camel, emerald, & navy, but also this year, I am planning on bringing some purple to the mix as well, more on that later. These colors & tones are ones I typically don’t wear except during this time of year, which is why fall fashion excites me so much! What a fun opportunity to play with new colors & new pairings each year!
This look, thanks to this scarf, displays several of my favorite fall tones. I would have never put all of these colors & accessories together if it weren’t for being so inspired by this scarf, but I love the way it turned out. Just can’t wait to style this scarf with more outfits this fall & continue mixing fall tones that I would have never paired together before. Each day brings a new spark of creativity when creating my OOTD.
What are your favorite colors to wear in the fall?
Burgundy is definitely my favorite color to wear in the fall. Something about this color feels very feminine & romantic to me. So naturally, since I’ve been seeing so many dreamy pieces coming out recently from all of my favorite brands, I curated my most coveted pieces in a collection for you all. I don’t think I’ve ever been so obsessed about a group of items in my life! These beauties are dying to be a part of my wardrobe this year. I truly want them all. Hopefully some of these pieces can find their way into either my wardrobe or yours, or can at least provide some shopping inspiration. I also highly recommend monochrome looks like the one featured in this post. They are classic & oh-so chic.
I’ve loved peonies for as long as I can remember, but who doesn’t?! I mean, they are just so stunning! When I moved into my first house, I knew a peony bush had to be planted in the front garden right away. I didn’t know much about peonies, or how to care for them, I just knew I loved them so I jumped right in. The first year it had only 2 blooms, the next only 4 blooms, but this year it had at least 20 blooms! I brought them all inside to fill my home with their beauty & lovely fragrance. Sometimes, I would catch myself just staring at them! They look so light & soft like cotton candy, they look unreal. Ben & I have dreams of one day having a large garden filled with flowers to harvest not only for ourselves, but to have an abundance to share with our friends & family. What better gift to give than fresh flowers?
Future Garden Dreams
Our future garden will be full of flowers. Different flowers so that some will be in bloom for each season. Peonies, tulips, ranunculus, lilacs, & hyacinth in the spring, sunflowers, hydrangeas, snapdragons, & English lavender in the summer, dahlias in the fall, & anemones & jasmine in the winter. How dreamy does that sound? I recently added Cut Flower Garden to our wedding registry, which is a book on how to grow, cut, & arrange seasonal blooms. This book looks so good & helpful for our future garden. I’ve also been pinning lovely images to my Farm Dreams board for years. We can’t wait to make this dream a reality someday.
