One Dress, Four Seasons

One Dress, Four Seasons

The Dress

Chicwish kindly gifted me this gorgeous cream embroidered dress with tie sleeves that I was so excited to style this summer. As I began playing around with it in my wardrobe, I realized that this dress can actually be worn in EVERY season! One dress to wear in all four seasons. Talk about versatility & definitely getting your money’s worth. See how I’ve styled this classic dress uniquely for each season of the the year.

Spring

One Dress, Four Seasons

My classic trench coat is my go-to jacket to wear especially in the spring. It’s a great length, light-weight, & keeps me warm in the crisp spring air. For shoes, I went with a patent ballet flat. This pair is under $15 & is great to wear even on rainy days. What is spring without a few floral accessories? A pair of floral earrings & a floral print bag really brighten up this look. Lastly, a colorful pastel yellow pair of sunnies to welcome some warmer weather.

Summer

One Dress, Four Seasons

My designer dupe espadrilles are my favorite summer shoe, so of course I had to pair them with this dress. Warm tones have been my favorite to wear this summer like these orange cat eye sunglasses, this brown woven belt, & the floral scarf tied in a bow on my bag. To tie in with the bow on my bag & the tie sleeves, & paired this look with a simple pair of gold bow studs for an effortless look. What is summer without a great basket bag, am I right? It’s been a favorite of mine & you would not believe how affordable it is!

One Dress, Four Seasons

Fall

One Dress, Four Seasons

I wanted to play with a bit of layering for this fall look & decided to choose one of my favorite colors for fall to do so: camel. This camel turtleneck is so soft & is a great layering piece to add warmth to your look. Not to mention it matches my camel beret perfectly. I love the way this blush cardigan looks with the cream dress & the camel accents. It gives the whole look that cozy vibe. For earrings I went with these pearl earrings to tie in with the cream dress. Lastly, I paired these nude suede ballet flats & a dark toned bag for some contrast.

One Dress, Four Seasons

Winter

One Dress, Four Seasons

Yep, this dress even works in winter! I threw this oversized burgundy roll neck sweater over my lovely cream dress & paired it with a few other burgundy accessories. Berets really do add so much warmth in the fall & winter months which is why I have so many colors to wear almost everyday! I wanted to add my check coat to add a bit of structure to the look & tie in with my black box bag that’s one of my winter staples. If you’re worried about being cold in the winter in just a dress, remember you can always add boots, tights, or even fleece leggings underneath!

Our Valentine's Day + Celebrating 6 Months Of Marriage

My Forever Valentine

This is our fourth Valentine’s Day together, but this year is the most special of them all. We are officially a family now & since our wedding, our love has only grown. (As cheesy as it sounds…it’s true!) Ben & I wanted to do something special together to celebrate our first married Valentine’s Day, but we had to do it a little bit early this year. I will be performing tonight & the rest of the weekend, so Ben had the great idea of visiting the beautiful Agecroft Hall last weekend. Neither of us had ever been, so we slept in, had cinnamon rolls & coffee, then left at noon to arrive right when the gates opened.

Agecroft Hall

Agecroft Hall is a lovely, Tudor manor house right on the James River located just minutes from our house. Believe it or not, this home was built in the late 15th century in Lancashire, England. Then in the early 20th century it was deconstructed, shipped overseas, & rebuilt. This place is incredible. The details, paintings, elaborate beds & ceilings were magnificent. Not to mention the masterfully laid out gardens. Needless to say, we cannot wait to go back in the spring & summer when the gardens are in full bloom. I hear that in the summer, the also have live Shakespeare performances outside! We had a lovely afternoon on this amazing property & cannot wait to go back.

Our First 6 Months

Ben & I recently celebrated our 6 month wedding anniversary. Since our magical wedding day, we’ve travelled to Italy, Ben started a new job, I changed my name, we had both of our families here at home for Christmas, & we’ve worked together as a team on building our life together as well as our finances. We love spending time together & dreaming big dreams for our future. Both of us have mentioned that it is still some much fun calling each other husband & wife. As we were reflecting the other night & talking about the last 6 months of marriage, the same truth rang true in both of our hearts: we’ve never felt more in love. Maybe it’s the honeymoon season, but either way, I love this man & am so thankful we are on this path together.

A Touch Of Sparkle

A Touch Of Sparkle

The Look I’m Loving

You know that perfect outfit you own that you can wear to grab brunch with your girlfriends? Now imagine that look gently sprinkled with touches of sparkle. Do you smile at the thought of that like I do? I just love a little shimmer! Personally, at the moment I’m not into wearing necklaces, but items on my radar include earrings, bracelets, rings, hair accessories, & even hand bags. I am on the hunt to find the best affordable sparkly bits. These little pretties know how to catch people’s eyes & elevate any look.

My 3 Favorite Styles

Bows

If you’ve been following me for a while, you know I love bows. The more the merrier. Bow earrings add the sweetest feminine statement to a look. For dramatic shine, these long black bow earrings easily pair with any outfit. My smaller white bow earrings are a great dupe for the Oscar de la Renta bow earrings. When I don’t want anything flashy, my gold bow studs are the perfect go-to earrings.

Gold + Stars

I’ve had my second piercing done for years now, but I don’t always take advantage of it. I’m really into the look of huggie earrings (dainty gold earrings that “hug” your ear) layered up on the ear. Especially if they are asymmetrical! The star + moon set I’m wearing in these photos is one of my favorite sets at the moment. On the other side, the star & moon are reversed! I also have this larger pair of affordable star + moon earrings that are great for making a statement. Earrings that are asymmetrical like this are also seen from some of my favorite designers such as Dior, Gucci, & Oscar de la Renta.

(Shoutout to my Dior Studded Lady Bag dupe that’s under $20!!!)

Another great way to add a touch of sparkle to your look is with bracelets & rings. I’m typically drawn to items that are mostly gold with a few sparkles thrown in the mix. Like this dainty nautical charm bracelet I’m wearing here. Old school charm bracelets are making a come back you guys! Time to whip out your old ones or find new affordable ones such as this. There is something so satisfying to having a little jingle on your wrist.

Pearls

It’s no secret that I love love love pearls right now. And how could I not? They are everywhere right now & so perfectly feminine. Designers like Jennifer Behr are influencing the accessories scene in a major way. Her use of pearls in bows, headbands, & clips for your hair is just stunning. Ever since seeing her work, I’ve been searching for similar pieces that give that same feel, but at a more affordable price point. This pearl headband (also seen here) is one of those pieces, & I can’t stop wearing it! Also pearl hair clips like these & these are so gorgeous & are currently on my shopping list. As far as earrings go, some trending pearl pieces include these pearl heart earrings (under $5) (worn here), & these super fun shell + pearl statement earrings.

How To Un-Basic Your Wardrobe

How To Find Quality Pieces At Affordable Prices

How To Un-Basic Your Wardrobe

Hello Everyone!

Sometimes sticking to the basics can be a good thing. With the start of the new year & a new season approaching, you might be finding yourself, as I am, in need of a little boost. I’ve put together a few tips & ideas on how to un-basic your wardrobe that just might give you the boost you need.

It’s dress up time!

How To Un-Basic Your Wardrobe

How To Un-Basic Your Wardrobe

Do you tend to gravitate towards the same handful of “safe” outfits in your wardrobe? It’s time to mix things up. Pop some bubbly. Invite a friend over that you actually trust for fashion advice & get to it! What is it about those “safe” outfits that you love? Do they bring you joy? Confidence? Let’s try to find those same things you love about that outfit in a new one.

Pattern Mixing

Try mixing stripes or gingham with florals this season. If this seems like a scary task, read my Print Mixing For Beginners post, or check out Adorn Yourself Accordingly for some major inspo! I also have a Pinterest board dedicated to print mixing outfit inspiration you can check out here.

Add a red lip to one of your go-to looks

Throw on that go-to outfit that you love & feel good in, then add a pop of color to your lips! What a fun & simple way to shake things up. My fav red lipsticks are Milani Matte Iconic & Marc Jacobs So Rouge.

Pair with some unexpected shoes

Add a heel to a casual look, or a pop of color to a more neutral outfit. It’s easy to stick to the basics when it comes to shoes, but I find statement shoes (even a pair or embellished or fancy flats) can really take an outfit to the next level.

Style your hair differently.

This can be as simple as parting your hair in a different place! I love playing with a deep side part, to a normal side part, to an almost middle part. Such an easy way to mix it up. Or, with spring & summer on the horizon, if you tend to “fix” your hair everyday, go for a more natural look every once in a while. Find ways to improve your ponytail like with invisibobbles, bows, or scarves. These subtle changes make a huge difference in the long run.

How To Un-Basic Your Wardrobe

What to invest in this season

A classic trench coat has been the best investment piece I’ve ever owned. I literally wear mine in every season, but it gets the most wear during the spring. Florals look amazing underneath a piece like this. (& you know that’s all I am wanting to wear right now!) It’s that perfect item that looks so smart when layered over literally any outfit. A classic piece everyone should own. There are also versions out there that help you make a wardrobe basic, un-basic. Look for one in a different color like pink, white, or blue, or find one with just a little more detail or flare to give it an extra edge.

One of my favorite ways to really make an outfit pop is with statement earrings. These are EVERYWHERE right now, so they shouldn’t be hard to get your hands on a pair or four. Pairs catching my eye recently are typically ones with big structured flowers. I mean what’s not to love, am I right?!

All I am wanting to wear on my feet right now are embroidered shoes. I even have a pair that I’m potentially wearing for my wedding reception shoes (sneak peek here). Needless to say, I love them. They are big right now, & a brilliant way to un-basic your day-to-day outfits.

Straw bags are trending again this spring summer (yay!), & are a great way to add texture to your #ootd. They come in all different shapes, styles, colors, & price points, making it easy to find the one that works for you. If you don’t already have one, this item is a spring/summer must-have.

My Coat Collection

My Coat Collection

Hello Everyone!

I have always loved coats, & I have always wanted a nice coat collection. You know what started it for me? The Devil Wears Prada. This clip of Andy walking in Manhattan & suddenly appearing in a completely different outfit with another completely stunning coat on, really stuck with me! Meanwhile, when I was living in NYC, I had a big black puffy coat that I wore on the daily, which made me look like I was wearing the same outfit everyday. I knew that someday, I wanted to own a collection with a variety of colors, textures, & silhouettes. Since then, I’ve been slowly adding to my wardrobe, & I am so in love with the pieces I’ve found over the years. I’m still really wanting to add a white, a navy, & a leopard print one to my collection…but that will come in time.

Coats can be expensive. Let me guide you through different price points for every budget to help expand your coat collection this season!

My Coat Collection

Classic Black Coat

You guys, I found this Guess coat at Goodwill for $20! I have found so many amazing things at my local Goodwill, it just takes some digging. Also, I’ve found that after the holidays, around the start of the new year, is the best time to look for coats. I love having this big black wool coat in my collection. It has a wrap around front & gold buttons that are to die for. This piece is a classic, timeless staple, & you probably already have one like it in your closet. But incase you don’t, here are a few of my favorites out there now!

My Coat Collection

Fuzzy Coat

This kind of coat might not be everyone’s cup of tea, but it’s one of my very favorites! It’s a short coat, & looks gorgeous with skirts or dresses. Not only is it beautiful dressed up, but it works wonders with a casual outfit! Throw on your favorites jeans & almost any top, then throw a fuzzy coat like this over top, & your outfit is complete! I recommend this kind of coat to be added to your wardrobe if you are interested in living your coziest life possible. 🙂 Check out all the dreamy options below! Almost all of them are under $50!

My Coat Collection

Pink Coat

I purchased this lovely pink coat last season, & it is just so me. The shade of pink is so wearable & it has just the right amount of structure, making it both formal & casual. I was totally enamored by Julia’s pink coat, that when I saw this one, it was love at first sight. It was instantly added to my coat collection.

Whether you use it as a pop of color, or a neutral to go with everything, a pink coat does wonders for your wardrobe. And pink is totally a festive Christmas color right?!…

My Coat Collection

Cape Coat

This coat is the newest in my collection. I love the fall tones & the subtle plaid thrown into it. What I love most about it though, is the silhouette it creates. It’s sleek & longline & actually has a little padding in the shoulders to add structure. This beauty is quite warm & perfect for wrapping up in like a blanket. (Fun fact: this coat looks JUST like Uncle Drosselmeyer’s cape in our Nutcracker! haha)

My Coat Collection

Trench Coat

The best part about owning a trench coat, is that it can literally be worn all year long! I wore it all over NYC last May (see here), & I also wore it to Thanksgiving last week. It’s so versatile & totally worth the investment this year. I found mine for under $100, so it doesn’t even have to break the bank. This piece is timeless & completes any look with ease. The Spring Trench Coat

Best Posts 2017

Hello Everyone!

I’ve been looking through my pictures from New York, & found one common thread throughout…my trench coat. It has been unusually chilly in the City this month, and I definitely underestimated the chill factor while packing & planning my outfits. Luckily, I packed this gem! My trench coat literally saved me on my trip. I figured it deserved an appreciation post.

The beauty of a trench coat is that not only does it provide warmth, but it’s quite lightweight making it easy to just throw on. It’s the perfect coat to travel with because once the sun does finally decide to show up, it’s not a hassle to carry around. I also love the statement it makes. It completes any outfit, while giving the effect of confidence & being quite put together. Major quintessential New York woman vibes.

While I was in the City, I wore it unbuttoned most of the time (as you can see in the photos). It wore beautifully as a layering piece & looks amazing when caught in the wind.
