I hear some of you might have a wedding you may be attending this summer…;)
But really, I have 2 other weddings besides my own wedding that I’m attending in the next couple of months, so I’ve been on the hunt for the perfect wedding guest look. Let me talk you through the do’s & the don’t’s for choosing what to wear to a wedding.
The Do’s
Do pay attention to the dress code. Make sure you take into consideration the venue & the time of day, but a good rule of thumb is that it’s better to be slightly overdressed than underdressed.
Do wear a small bag. It could be a clutch, a small crossbody, or a small handbag, but a small bag is chic choice.
Do find out what the colors are for the wedding. It’s always nice to be in the same color palette as the bridal party & decor. Wouldn’t want to show up in a lime green dress in a room full of lilac tones.
Do wear florals! Wedding always have flowers, so that’s one sure fire way you’ll fit right in.
Do wear something fun to dance in, whether that’s a floral jumpsuit or a maxi dress that flows with ease. I love a dress with a good twirl factor.
The Don’t’s
Don’t wear something that’s too revealing. It’s best to be respectful & let the bride shine on this day, plus you don’t want to be worrying about your outfit. Wear something that you can sit, eat, & most importantly, DANCE in.
Don’t wear white! Just don’t do it!
Don’t wear all black. This is a happy day, full of joy & newness. Not a funeral.
Don’t wear denim. Even the most casual weddings deserve a step up from your day to day jeans.
Don’t wear uncomfortable shoes, even if they’re fabulous. You won’t want to have to leave early because your feet can’t handle the dance floor anymore. Block heels are my go-to for comfort & style.

I love the dress! And yes a small bag is best. I prefer to take one that has at least a small wrist strap so I can hold it while dancing (or stash it in hubby’s jacket pocket) because I just don’t like leaving my essentials/valuables laying around.
