It’s been raining quite a bit here in Richmond, like a lot. Instead of getting those rainy day blues & feeling uninspired by my outfits, I’ve been challenging myself to dress the way I feel regardless of all the dark clouds in the sky. Even if the rain makes me a little sleepy, I’ve found that dressing the way I want to feel often changes my outlook for the day. It even boosts my mood & my confidence for whatever the day brings. I mean, how could you not smile when wearing rainy day ruffles?!
This dress is so gorgeous. As I’ve said before, Chicwish is an incredible brand that produces very unique & detailed pieces at a very affordable price. I fell in love with this dress the moment I saw it & originally pictured myself wearing it for a more fancy occasion than a regular rainy day. The other day I just decided to put it on because of how happy I felt wearing it & decided I wanted to just keep wearing it the rest of the day. I love the challenge of trying to dress up & dress down pieces in my wardrobe, but this was one of my favorites.
Since it was rainy outside, I knew I had to wear leather shoes as opposed to suede shoes. I honestly haven’t worn these silver oxfords in quite some time, but I absolutely love how they look with this ruffled dress. In an effort to keep this look a little bit more casual, I paired it with my burgundy cardigan that has been a staple in my wardrobe for close to 10 years now. I love the navy & the burgundy together & I think the mixture of the two textures just works.
What do you do to kick those rainy day blues? What do you think about this somewhat “extra” dress dressed down? Let me know in the comments below. x
I have honestly never thought of lavender as a fall color before. I’ve always just seen it as a happy spring shade, but I have been seeing it in a new light as of late. As you all know, I’ve been playing around with different colors in my wardrobe lately, & I’m totally loving how this lovely lavender shade is pairing with some of my favorite fall tones. Let me show you what I mean.
One way to integrate lavender into your fall wardrobe is to mix it with other classic fall tones. Lavender plays well with navy, gold, & camel, but a new combination that I am so excited about it lavender & burgundy. As you know from my recent post, burgundy is one of my very favorites to wear in the fall, so opening the door to mixing it with this gorgeous lavender color is creating so many new outfits for me.

Here is a sneak peek into my lavender infused outfits for this fall:
While perusing through my favorite local antique store, I found this gorgeous scarf that quickly made a place in my wardrobe. I was immediately drawn to its lovely fall tones: the emerald green, the deep red, & the bright gold. Creating an outfit featuring this scarf was like stepping right into fall. I could imagine wearing this while the leaves are changing colors & starting to fall, the crisp air is surrounding me, while sipping on a pumpkin spice cappuccino.
This will only be my second year of truly embracing fall fashion. I love getting creative with the colors textures & layers that just scream fall. I tend to stick to the color palette of burgundy, camel, emerald, & navy, but also this year, I am planning on bringing some purple to the mix as well, more on that later. These colors & tones are ones I typically don’t wear except during this time of year, which is why fall fashion excites me so much! What a fun opportunity to play with new colors & new pairings each year!
This look, thanks to this scarf, displays several of my favorite fall tones. I would have never put all of these colors & accessories together if it weren’t for being so inspired by this scarf, but I love the way it turned out. Just can’t wait to style this scarf with more outfits this fall & continue mixing fall tones that I would have never paired together before. Each day brings a new spark of creativity when creating my OOTD.
What are your favorite colors to wear in the fall?
Burgundy is definitely my favorite color to wear in the fall. Something about this color feels very feminine & romantic to me. So naturally, since I’ve been seeing so many dreamy pieces coming out recently from all of my favorite brands, I curated my most coveted pieces in a collection for you all. I don’t think I’ve ever been so obsessed about a group of items in my life! These beauties are dying to be a part of my wardrobe this year. I truly want them all. Hopefully some of these pieces can find their way into either my wardrobe or yours, or can at least provide some shopping inspiration. I also highly recommend monochrome looks like the one featured in this post. They are classic & oh-so chic.
