The 4th of July is a day to celebrate our freedom. What better way than to dress with feminine freedom?! As I’m planning out my red, white, & blue look, there are a few things I am getting really excited about. I’m looking for ruffles, bows, pearls, toile & whimsical prints, & hair accessories. Featured above are things on my current wishlist! See more below!
Isn’t gingham the happiest print you ever did see? This must be why once the sun comes out & brings about warmer days, I gravitate towards pieces like this sweet gingham dress. This iconic print also reminds me of one of my favorite things to do this time of year…PICNICS! My girlfriends & I recently took a trip to Charleston & had the loveliest picnic one afternoon. What do you know, I wore a gingham top on the picnic too! Seriously, nothing says, “sunny days” more than a bit of cheerful gingham.
I forget how attracted I am to blue until the weather warms up—then I’m utterly obsessed! Give me all the blue & white things! That’s why when I was browsing through Prim + Pop’s website & I found this dress, I knew it belonged in my closet. Not only is it blue & white, but it has the sweetest feminine shape. I love the square neckline combined with the back cutout & of course, the bow details. You wouldn’t believe how soft it is too!
Over the past five years, my love for makeup has grown & grown. I love reading reviews on how good a product’s formula is, if it’s long lasting, or if it has any skincare benefits, to find the best of the best products out there. My collection ranges from more high end beauty products to some of the most affordable & amazing products on the market. I’m so excited to share with you my very favorite, tried & true, best affordable makeup products.
It’s so important to start with a solid base when applying makeup. So many of my very favorite makeup base products come right from the drugstore. To start, I like to use the Almay Anti-Aging Smart Shade tinted moisturizer. Not only does this product have anti-aging properties, but it also has SPF 20 & does not break me out. It’s so easy to use. I just apply it with my hands like a moisturizer. Then I go with my ride or die concealer by Maybelline. Lastly, the Maybelline Fit Me matte pressed powder is key for a cake-free, flawless looking face.
Make It Multipurpose
The secret to a fresh, cohesive face is to let your already affordable products, be multipurpose products. My favorite look at the moment, uses 3 face products as eye products. I apply my Physician’s Formula Bronzer to bronze my face, as well as the crease color for my easy eye look. Then I use my Milani Luminoso Blush on the apples of my cheeks & then as a wash of color on my eyelids. To finish the eye look & brighten my face, I use an old favorite highlighter, Colourpop’s Wisp, on the high points of my cheek bones as well as in the inner corner of my eyes.
Don’t Forget The Lips!
It’s so much fun to play around with inexpensive lip products. This is a great way to test out new shades that may be a little bit out of your comfort zone. Drugstore & affordable lipsticks are great for building your collection & figuring out what shades really suit you. One way to make your more affordable lipsticks look more luxury is to layer them in order to create more depth to your look. My favorite affordable combination right now is to first apply a layer of the Maybelline matte shade called “Lust For Blush”, then to swipe on a coat of the L’Oreal lipstick in the shade “Peach Fuzz”, which has more of a sheen to it. I love playing with a mixture of warm & cool tones to create my own unique shade.
Along with the endless hair accessories you can find just about everywhere, there seems to be one other constant theme from retailers recently: shells! Shell accessories are an easy way to stay on trend this spring/summer. Whether it’s a pair of gold shell earrings or a shell woven bag, this trend is one I am so thrilled to take part in this season. What a fun way to feel like you’re bringing a bit of the beach wherever you go?!
Look At This Stuff, Isn’t It Neat?
How fun are these pearl embellished gold shell earrings? I’m totally obsessed. These lovelies will go with just about every outfit I will wear this spring/summer. I just love the statement they make while staying totally in my comfort zone with the gold tone & pearls. Another fun shell accessory I’ll be wearing this season is this fun woven shell bag. Of course, I’m keeping this in the same theme with the sweet pearls covering the clasp. This bag can be worn as either a clutch or as a crossbody making it easy to transition from day to night. I already love woven bags for the coming season, & this adorable shell shape is just the icing on the cake!
A few other pieces I’ve added to my collection recently include these gold shell hoops, my starfish studs, & my nautical charm bracelet. There are so many amazing styles out right now, & the great thing about this trend is that you can find quality pieces at an affordable price.
Typically, the items in my wardrobe tend to have the dreamy warm tones that I love so much, but I saw this dress & instantly felt inspired to create a lovely cool toned look. Maybe it’s the cooler weather, or the jacquard floral print, but either way, I couldn’t resist these cool toned vibes. In the moment when I was creating this outfit, I felt very out of my comfort zone. Looking back now though, I’m not sure why, because seeing these photos makes this look very much like me. This realization was further confirmation of my motto that if you’re questioning it…just wear it. Be fearless with your fashion!
Pop Of Warmth
Even though as we’ve discussed this look is very cool toned, I chose to mix it up & pair it with a very warm toned lip. This bright orange lipstick is one of my very favorites & I love how it looks with this outfit. It’s quite unexpected, but is a great pop of color in contrast with the blues of my look. A shade like this is great to have in your collection. It gives such a different look & feel to a typical red or pink lip.
So many different pairs of shoes would look just stunning with this look, but I decided to do a little bit of print mixing. Ginghams & florals play so well together, & since they were in the same color family, it was a perfect match. I love what a pop of print on your shoes does to an outfit. It’s that bit of extra detail that totally elevates your look.

Crop tops have been everywhere this summer, & while I do have my fair share of them, sometimes it’s difficult to find ones that will fit seamlessly in my wardrobe. I like my tops to give a very flattering silhouette as well as have the right amount of texture & detail to them to make them special. Bows, ruffles, & buttons are a few things I always gravitate towards when looking for a new top. This lovely number has both ruffles & a bow in the back, so finding it’s way into my wardrobe was a no brainer.
I chose to wear this feminine gingham crop top with a gorgeous floral embroidered, high-waisted skirt. Crop tops & anything high waisted are just a match made in heaven. That way, even though you are wearing something cropped on top, something high-waisted on the bottom ensures the look stays looking very classic & feminine & not too revealing. I originally bought this skirt to potentially wear to one of my bridal showers, but ended up wearing other things instead, so I’m finally starting to style it for my everyday life. I’m totally loving it’s shape & the sweet floral details. I love how these two pieces look together.
Simple ballerinas like the ones I’m wearing here are my go-to, everyday shoe. They are a classic staple in my wardrobe & I wear them in every season. I also brought back my favorite spring straw bag from this year, which just goes with this look so seamlessly. My pink, quirky sunglasses are the final detail that really completes my feminine look.

I’ve worn this outfit twice recently because I’ve loved it so much! First I wore it to lunch with a friend, then I wore it to a house-warming party. Even though this skirt could easily lean on the dressy side, paired with this crop top & my simple ballerinas, it’s perfect for an everyday look. I also wore this top with a very different skirt on my honeymoon to the Amalfi Coast which you can see here.
